Inaugural Supporters Club Meeting Tuesday 18th March

I felt this needed to be done soon in order to capitalise on the interest shown by supporters and I have taken the liberty of arranging for the use of the downstairs Concert Room at Damson Park for an inaugural meeting of the Solihull Moors Supporters' Club on Tuesday March the 18th at 8pm.

The purpose of the meeting will be to agree membership fees, a constitution and to elect officers of Solihull Moors Supporters' Club.

Once up and running the Supporters' Club can then discuss what it wishes to do in order to raise money for Solihull Moors and these ideas could be discussed after the official business has taken place.

If anyone wishes to put themselves forward for office but is unable to attend, I will be pleased to put their name forward. If anyone wishes to vote for someone in particular for a particular office but is unable to attend, I will be pleased to put their vote forward by proxy.

I look forward to meeting everyone there.

I spoke to Trevor Stevens after the Harrogate match and he has agreed to waive the car park fees for people arriving after 7 o'clock (Kick-off time for Blues Reserves v Spurs Reserves) and coming to the meeting. If there is a problem please remain calm and don't abuse the car park stewards, we will sort it out. There is also the possibility that the meeting will need to be transferred to the upstairs area of the front bar, if so there will be notices put up to that effect.

I've added this edit to the original posting but put it up here, too in order that it becomes the latest posting on this subject.

Re: Inaugural Supporters Club Meeting Tuesday 18th March

I instigated the thread originally regarding the Supporters Club/ Association with the intention of building on the good work done already by those supporters from both merged clubs who have been with us from the start.
My initial thoughts were that the aim should be to increase the general support, and gain more new fans. This will bring more atmosphere to Damson Park.
I believe one way to do this is to have meetings and pool ideas.
I have seen some new fans appear this season, the meetings will allow us to talk in depth as to why they have come, what made them and look at what should be done to encourage some more fans.
We can only do this by talking and examining others ideas, and I will be pleased to occupy an official position if others want me to so that we can move forward. It appears that some feel that the club seem not to do this very well and if we succeed we can help the club by having more paying support.
Another main thing in my thinking is that the away support at matches has bonded the supporters in a big way and I personally would like to see help given in this direction to enable everyone who wants to travel on the official coaches to be able to do so without cost being prohibitive.
The club has it's own agenda for the future and for now the supporters club should build itself into a model of strength then we will be in a position to help with maybe donations later on when we have a strong membership.
Initially as I said if we could raise funds to
1. Fund promotional material to encourage HOME supporters ( that will bring cash to the club
2. Subsidise the away travel costs to say £8 and £4 for the coach ( instead of at times £15 and £9) this to help continue the excellent camradery that has occured.
I would be loath to aim to raise funds for ground improvements at this point in time ( ie Tannoy) as The Pertemp Bees are about to descend on us with cash and ground improvements already in hand, so that may well be already catered for.
They may well also descend with a thriving supporters club of there own ( I don't know) and put us to shame, so lets just concentrate on getting to know each other better ( we may have people who can help in ways we never thought of before), and building our numbers.

Many thanks to everyone who turned up and to Griff for digging up the draft constitution - sorry, I'm too tired to read it carefully but I will do so on Friday! Contrary to popular opinion I'm quite adept at doing accounts, having spent donkeys years doing them in numerous currencies whilst touring all over the globe, so I'm happy to put myself up for that if it helps. I think a monthly meeting will be frequent enough and the interim committee should get together soon to sort out the constitution ready to put it to the members after the Hyde game when we can hopefully legitimise the Solihull Moors Supporters' Association/Club.

The interim committee consists of Richard Crawshaw, Clive Litchfield, James Bradley, Dave Trehearn, Ken Russell, Andy Miles, Pete Denham and Roger Simmons.
