Re: calling all Song Writers
FINALLY IN ABOUT 3458756987597906590 yearss..I'll post a new song..I've been so bussyyy with high school. AND IM HYPER.. And Im still really bad at rhyming.
Another song about suicide.. (I find it a good topic to write about)..-
Is it worth it?
My feet are half over the edge.
My head is barely abover the water.
I'm half-way in the street.
This is how it ends.
But is it worth it?
(chorus)
Yeah, Is it worth it to be loved?
Is it worth it to waste this life?
When theres a whole world out there.
Yeah, Is it worth it?
I sit there shaking, hand wrapped around the trigger.
Tears falling down my face, as I inhale my fate.
Hands sweating in confusion, wrapped around the knife.
This is how my problems drift away.
Is it worth it?
(chorus)
In the dark room, I cry. Loosening my grip slowly.
Thinking what this world would do for some love.
So I plead You. Save my life, tell me it isn't worth it.
(chorus)
I plead You. Save my life
--- "I LOVE TREVOR MCNEVAN! HE'S SO AWESOME! AND HE HAS THE AWESOMEST SOUL PATCH EVER! YAY TREVOR!"-MC

Re: calling all Song Writers
yeah, i do talk a lot. uh i have some more songs so i'm gonna go see which ones i've posted and then i'll post another one. oh no wait! i know one i haven't posted. this song isn't online ANYWHERE cuz i didn't put it on my soundclick when i first recorded it cuz i kept forgetting, and then i decided to re-record it before i put it on there, so i'm hopefully gonna do that soon. this was the other one on my demo with "Which Way?" k here it is:
The Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke Song
v.1
Ridin down the street with my bros in the back seat
Chillin and relaxin just listenin to phat beats
We're headed like 800 miles away
It's 830 am, I haven't eaten all day
So we stoppin at the gas station, gettin some snacks
I'm walkin by the drinks and I'm lookin through the glass
I see some Pepsi, Mountain Dew and Full Throttle
But then I see this Coke it's got cherries on the bottle
I'm like "It ain't for real y'all, it's gotta be a joke
Who's ever heard of Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke?"
But I'm like, "Well I guess it won't kill me to try it"
So I grab the bottle and I just go and buy it
I unscrew the lid and I taste the first drop
I keep drinkin more and I don't wanna stop
HOOK:
It goes C to the O to the K to the E
Then ya add some vanilla and some black cherry
Mix it all up and make sure its sugar free
Shake it all up and load it up with caffeine
v.2
It's like a month later and we at it again
Another road trip and it's February 10th
Me and my bros and our friends in the back seat
Stop at Burger King, get somethin to eat
We get back in the car and get back on the road
I need a Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke!
We get to the youth convention and we go inside
I gotta get my drink, I'm runnin outta time!
When the night ends we stop at a gas station
I can't find my drink I can't take the frustration!
But just then I see outta the corner of my eye
That bottle sittin on the top shelf up high
I think "It's for real y'all this stuff ain't a joke
I gotta have my Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke"
v.3 (or whatever you wanna call it cuz it's not exactly a verse)
So when we in the car ridin down the interstate
Surrounded by a single straight stretch of road all day
When the monotony gets to my mind
I sit back and sip my Coke and I'm alright
Ok so yeah, there it is. my grandma kept telling me i needed to send it to Coke and see if they would put like the hook on a commercial, which would be really cool and all, but I would wanna get it copyrighted first so Coke wouldn't steal my song and get all the credit for it and then copyright it so I couldn't put it on my cd
and just for anyone who read my song...HAVE A HUG!

Re: calling all Song Writers
I really dont know. I haven't copyrighted anything yet, my songs aren't great, But I actually ryme now which is good.
*googles it*
Also you can go to the Library of Congress website and find more info.
Oh and below may not be an answer to whatever you want. Im just trying to look smart lol.
This is what wikianswers says (its kinda long and boring lol sorry)-
To enforce a copyright in U.S. federal court, it must first be registered, as proof of ownership, and a copy deposited with the Library of Congress. Copyrights registered early do have the benefit of certain statutory fines, if an infringement is proven.
It is sometimes asserted that: "To a large extent this depends on the laws of the country you live in. Copyrighting something is just a way of you asserting that you came up with an idea first. The simplest way to do this is to post a copy to yourself. The envelope will bear a postmark, which will bear up in court as the date you invented/wrote something, so long as the envelope is still sealed. However, it's better to try the Patent Office. There, for a small fee, you can patent inventions, and anyone coming up with a similar idea can then realize straight away that they are in breach of copyright."
However, this contains many common mis-perceptions and inaccuracies. For example, international copyright law is largely harmonious, under various conventions that are adopted in hundreds of countries.
Under U.S. federal law: "In no case does copyright protection for an original work of authorship extend to any idea, procedure, process, system, method of operation, concept, principle, or discovery, regardless of the form in which it is described, explained, illustrated, or embodied in such work."
Posting or mailing a copy of something to yourself is NOT an effective way to protect your IP (Intellectual Property). And only rarely would such a method ever hold up in court. File an application with the US Copyright Office, if you think you would benefit from having a registration. (See link to the right.) Find out what category your IP falls under - and not all things are eligible for copyright protection (ideas and titles of songs, stories or books, among other things), check the regs for this too - so you can figure out which application form you will need to fill out and send in, although it is not always simple. Applicants must follow the instructions precisely. Filing fees vary so check with the Copyright Office for current prices. Be prepared to wait for verification that your copyright has been approved and registered. ''Sometimes'' this can take months depending on how busy the office is at any given time, for your particular type of works.
A patent is not the same thing as a copyright as an earlier answer seems to imply. Patents and copyrights do not protect the same things. Nor do trademarks. And sometimes a combination of patent, copyright and trademark protection may be necessary to more fully protect your IP. If you are not familiar with the terms copyright, trademark, patent, service mark, visit the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the Copyright Office's websites and read up on the differences. Keep in mind that copyright protection isn't what it used to be thanks to the internet, file-sharing and widespread ignorance or disregard of the laws pertaining to ownership of IP. Patents are a little easier to enforce because patents apply to specific inventions which are more tangible than songs, poems, stories, logos, etc. And having a copyright on file does not mean you can't lose a court case over ownership of and right to use IP, but it certainly gives you an edge and added protection.
A lawsuit for patent infringement can cost millions of dollars and take years to complete.
Copyright protection, if any, is automatic and immediate, and any unauthorized copies are infringements. Patent protection only exists after a patent application is reviewed and a patent is issued, and a patent cannot be infringed until then. It often takes years to have a patent issued (hence, "patent pending"). Trademark protection is also "automatic", from the time of "first use", but only for a limited scope, and a trademark registration provides valuable benefits.
To prove copyright infringement you must have a registered copyright and prove the defendant had access to your work, copied it without authority, and that the copying was substantial.
