Session Summary - 3/28/05
Using the abandoned temples in the valley near Stoneheart Mountain as a base of operations while in the area, the members of the party present were resting after a reconnoiter of the area and heard the sound of a horse approaching. On investigating, a quite comical site emerged. A questing knight riding a noble steed and leading goats, pigs, chickens and a pack mule laden with a manner of gear appears headed directly for the temple of Heironeous. He is accosted by Shea, who hails him from the portico of the temple of Pelor while Sebulidran watches from a nearby copse of trees.
It turns out that the knight is a valiant warrior dedicated to the service of Heironeous and come to investigate the disappearance of the great hero Abysthor, who lately had come to the area to end the depradations of the newly established local temple of Orcus and to stop the minions of that foul being from gaining access to the "Blood of the Earth" and opening a portal to the Abyss. When he arrives and dons the armor and raises the sword of one of the greatest Heironean knights of the last age, he is also quested to find the legendary Stone of Tircople and the Chalice of Elanir, supposed to be in the tombs of the Heironean knights of old under the mountain, in the area now believed to be controlled by the minions of Orcus.
The party ventures to the cave that was explored earlier and chases more of the animated skeletons to a large room containing a fountain of blood, on which is engraved a foul symbol of pure evil. Issuing from the fountain is a veritable stream of skeletons.
AS the number of skeletons threatening the heroes increases, the party attempts various strategies first to deal a heavy blow to their enemies, from calling down the wrath of Corellan upon them, to filling the fountain with alchemists' fire, to attempting the destruction of the aforementioned evil rune so rudely carved in the putrid basin. It pulses with a hateful evil red glow and resists attempts to mar it. Finally the party fears for their very survival as things go from bad to worse and the fountain continues to issue forth skeletons, each dripping foul ichor and bearing malice toward the party.
It is a narrow escape, but the heroes return to the temple of Heironeous with their lives. Some quick thinking and a hasty retreat saved them, but how to get past the dread fountain? Does the earlier noticed secret door contain a way to circumvent its skeletal hordes?

Good session, for a "first session." We were pretty unfocused, but getting used to gaming together again, I think. It was, for all intents and purposes, a group's first session. We had a lot to catch up on and we had to get comfortable gaming with each other again. I think if we can sustain the good gaming for longer periods of time, we will have some awesome sessions.
