Reading week!
Woah I have been very busy and tired over the past two weeks!
Well I will continue from where I left off!
I have 10 lectures over the past two weeks.
I had a lecture on Heart, lungs and blood vessels which I found really interesting even if it was quite hard to understand it all. The lecturer was really good at explaining how the heart pumped blood round the body. After this lecture we had a lecture on Legal and Ethical and were told how the NHS use the money that is given them to be the Government we were split into groups of 6 and we were given a list of patients that needed treatment and given a budget of £430,000 and we had to work out who would receive treatment and who wouldn't! It was really quite hard and I have a much better understanding of how little money the NHS actually get! Later that afternoon we had a pratical session on Bed Making and Basicl Life support. We had to have an assessment on Basic Life Support and we practised on dummies before we got called into this other room to show our tutors that we could do it.I was a bit nervous but I shouldn't have been the tutors were very lovely and I realised that they are not trying to fail you or anything like that, they want you to pass and will help if you dont!!! I passed and got my certificate and I was very pleased with myself!!! After this we were shown what different types of hospital beds they are and how to do hospital corners etc.
Last week I was only in two days but I was exhausted, it's strange because I was working full time before and wasn't this tired!!!! I had two lectures last Monday, they were Muscloskeletal system and communication. The communciation lecture was quite interesting they were highlighting the need for compassion and what makes good nurses. Then on Tuesday we had lectures on the Urinary system, which fascinated me!! I was really interested in this and I really understood it!! woohoo!! Then we had a lecture on the law, the lecturer explained what criminal law is, and how ethics and law are different. Some people believe that ethics are law but they are not.
I'm on a reading week this week and then I have two weeks off for Easter, I am concentrating on writing my essay on the code of conduct and revising and understanding everything I have learnt so far.. didn't realise how much I have learnt already and the past month has shot past!!!! Well I will post before I got back to uni at the end of April to let you know how I got on with my essay and my studying.
