Family Planning i have been pestering my family planning tutor for the past 18 months since doing the family planning theory course cos i wanted to do the family planning practice.
the only problem is i could only do the practice once i was qualified.
i'd cornered her a few times but she kept putting me off however i was bugging her again last week and she told me to see her this week.
and low and behold she thinks i might be able to do the family planning practice course..... starting now!!! woohoo
she has given me an assessment booklet and had to go and part with the pricely sum of £144 for the honour.
it will entail at least 10 sessions in family planning and genitourinary clinics .
i have to keep a portfolio of learning of between 4000 and 5000 words!! yikes!!
im really excited about it though as family planning was my initial inspiration for returning to nursing.
Re: Family Planning well im now half way through my sessions, for the first couple i just had to sit and watch then went on to being observed so my assessor could help out if i got stuck and now i have moved on to conducting them myself and only pop-out the room to get the PGD signed or if i need to refer the patient to a doc... which is great.
apparently lots of poeple who do the course only do it cos they are practice nurses who kinda get forced to do it by the GPs which is such a shame as sometimes they arent very enthusiastic about doing.
i feel super motivated to do this as its something ivwanted to do for a long time and have passed my midway assessment with flying colours.... hopefully do the same for the final one and portfolio....
i was also hoping this will allow me to get some bank shift but there should be some sessions actually coming up so might be able to get a wee session on a permanent basis which would be excellent.
Re: Family Planning its been really great doing it. i completed my 10 sessions last week and i loved every minute of it... i felt really supported and my assessor and tutor are both excellent... now have to write up my 5000 word portfolio up for next wed
