Essay Hell just had a really awful weekend trying to get a 3000 word essay complete .
it was a case study and i hadnt done one before so had been trawling the net for some examples.
i really need to start them earlier but after writing about 500 words i got up on sunday morning to write the rest when my pc started to die on me .
couldnt get onto the internet but couldnt get into my saved adobe files either . after an hour i phoned the broad band service and the guy told me to press a few buttons which i did this lead to a sreen saying insert windows 98 disk !!!
i started going mental at the poor guy down the phone cos i though it was gonna delete all my work or files .... luckily enough it didnt but after trying various things it still didnt work and it was now 1pm .
my dad came up and started pressing buttons and said it wasnt looking good , he tried to revive it but after another couple of hours had saved all my documents to cd and sent me off to my mums to do some work on his pc.
another few hundred words written and was back home at 9 with a nice formatted pc which actually worked... woo hoo!!
aren't daddys great?
anyway this meant i had to do a mommoth through the night job on the essay but eventually had to have a snoozette at 5am for a couple of hours before finally getting my essay in on monday afternoon.
the moral of the story.... if you pc starts going slow save and formatt it before it dies thet day before your essay is due
Re: Essay Hell oh lulu how on earth did you do it the night before? takes me weeks, dont think i would cope under the pressure of something like that! but welldone for getting it finished!

Re: Essay Hell In my case its my hubby...he works with pcs, servers etc...
Any probs and he sorts em...so relieved cos am sure sometimes this pc hates me. :holy:
Going to get him to come up with ideas that will reduce the risk of me losin any work..
I know my luck isnt good with pc's so its goin to be 'belts n braces' time.
If anyone needs any help he is happy to help out us 'nursing students'...lol

im having essay hell my reason is its my first and i havent got a bloody clue what im doing im meant to be sitting here doing the introduction it sounds rubbish what the hell am i going to do how did you cope with your first ive read some of your work and you make it all sound easy.

Re: Essay Hell i think the first essay is always the hardest cos you dont really know what the lecturers are after.... and every now and then you still get a mad lecturer who gives very random marks and feedback.
however you might find writing the essay first and introduction at the end would be easier.... if you have difficulties why not post on the assignment help section on the message board
Re: Essay Hell I agree, at college we were taught to do the main body of the essay first and then the introduction. Lulu have you considered a memory stick - got one for Christmas and it has been a life saver.
i started this post over a year ago and since then have qualified as a family planning nurse and a midwife ....
and im most definately having a break from studying.
the problem i had last year wouldnt have really been resolved with a memeory stick becuase i couldnt even access teh files in teh first place.... i did try to save to disk and send via email... my pc was just too far gone at that stage.
btw i have a memory stick now (thanx daddy )... which came in very handy when giving my intensive programme presentation in the netherlands in feb.
