not written here for a while so thought my poor neglected diary emoticon deserved an update....
so here goes.... emoticon emoticon emoticon

i still work in family planning doing 2 sessions a week in general FP clinics and over the last few months have also been helping out at vasectomy clinics doing post op counselling... i love family planning and find it really fulfilling.

the job i had in nurse urology was temporary for 1 year covering mat leave although there was talk of it being extended especially when the girl i was covering for came back part time and we thought we could job share... but it didnt work out like that emoticon .

i got a job working as a public health staff nurse on a health visiting team in midlothian.

i had always thought about health visting so thout it was a good way to discover if it really was for me or not.... and i was encouraged to take the role as far as i wanted... its a relatively new position and some health visitors dont like it and are protective of the HV status while others are very proactive and forward thinking.... like you get anywhere.... although it was a temporary contract again emoticon

the job was great i got the opportunity to do lots of courses and did the childhood immunisations clinic and was involved in infant feeding, child protection, child development, post natal depression, etc, so when i really started to get into it i applied and got a permanent position.....

but as time went on i felt it wasnt really what i expected... working in a smaller team and less opportunities to do the things i was most interested in... although i really enjoyed building relationships with the families and i loved all the fab students we have had!!! emoticon

so i applied for a few jobs over the summer and got interviews for nearly all of them... unfortunately my interview technique mustnt be quite as good as my supporting statement emoticon emoticon or maybe they just werent to be.

but when i got back my hols i had a letter inviting me for interview in glasgow the next afternoon.... i thought giving myself 2 hours to get there would be fine.... oh how wrong could i be emoticon i was phoning pauline asking where to go as i got myself lost emoticon and ended up being almost 10 mins late emoticon

however i must have wowed them cos within an hour of the interview id been offered the post as a sexual health nurse for the young peoples service at a very well renowned clinic, and its full time and permanent and band 6 emoticon I still cant quite believe its for real.... this is my dream job and the reason i went back into nursing in the first place....

hopefully the commute isnt going to be 2 hours every day now i know where im going to emoticon .... and think ill prob stick to driving emoticon in future.

also in the past year i met my partner Walt and we got engaged in feb..... the breast cancer is in remission and life is good. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Re: Stuff

Just seeing this post now. Great to have an update of what's been happening, nice to see no more injuries though! Pauline informed you were going to be working on the "dark side" of the country hehe! I'm sure you'll love your new job.

Take care
