Palpitations

Fish has inspired me to start a health thread in my own diary lol. Well i have been getting palpitations a lot recently. I have a history of these when i was about 15 i had an ECG which was normal and the palpitations were put down to stress because i had depression and was being verbally bullied by someone at school emoticon
But recently they have come back and ive had them on and off since 15. I would describe it as like having butterflies in your stomach but obviously its in my chest. It feels like a flutter and feel a bit of relief when i take a big breath in. I put it down to worrying about placement allocation a few weeks ago but now that i know and settled about it its still there. happens a few times a day and the more im becoming aware of it the more its happening. I am still a bit worried about the last few months of my training and essays/ job etc. so could still be due to worry but i read an article in now magazine about a 27 year old guy who had a sudden cardiac arrest and died. He had been complaining of palpitations a few times before hand but had never done anything about it. I cant stand the thought of having another ECG i know they only last a few seconds and i have done loads in practice but for a woman its so embarrassing! Hope it goes without me having to bother going to the docs. emoticon

Re: Palpitations

Come on hon bit the bullet and go. If you do have to have a ECG,it will mean they are actually being thourough(you no this), As women we go through loads of enbarrasing things and this will just be another bloody hurdle.
I wantto read your thread tomm and have it say you have made a appointment,(OMG listen to me i sound so bossy), SORRY dont want to boss you but i can only say how better i feel actually doing something about my illness.
I will be back tommorrow, ha, ha, ARNIE signing off.
kaz, come on lets look after ourselfs emoticon emoticon emoticon to you loopylou

Re: Palpitations

Loopy I had palpitations felt like my bra was tight but it wasn't??
and eventually went to the docs had an echo and found I have a mitral valve prolapse which is ok lots of peeps have them and don't know at least it doesn't leak and they don't want to see me for 5 years.....so I know how you feel you don't want to admit there is something, but it may be due to stress best to get checked out though. emoticon

My mum started getting these and i made her see the doc pronto. She has paroxysmal atrial fibrilation which requires medication. It's down to stress too.

Cant hurt to get it checked can it?
