Re: Palpitations

Hi Loopylou, well done on booking an appointment, i have the same problem as you and i kept putting it off but i went to the doctors about 6 weeks ago and it was the best thing now its being investigated which is such a relief. They put me on a very low dose beta-blocker which i have to say took a couple of weeks to work but really has sorted out the palpitations for me. I also have to have a 24 hour ecg done next week, which im dreading cos dont want to get my boobies out for noone! :-(

But im just so relieved to be taken seriously, i know how scary it is thinking there is something wrong with you and when its your heart involved you become convinced your gona drop down dead.

Really hope it gos well and they do something for you xxxx

Re: Palpitations

well i have been to the docs and he took my bp- 132/83 which was fine (its never been higher than that emoticon ) listened to my heart and pulse and said it was normal. Said i need to cut down on my cans of diet coke and have the caffeine free one (i knew he would say that). Said it sounded like I was having ectopic beats which isn't anything to worry about at my age. Asked my occupation etc told him i was anxious about last few months of course etc. Anyway, I have to have an ECG next thurs and get some blood taken to test thyroid function as palps are a symptom of a dodgy thyroid. If that's ok but I still want something done he said I could if i wanted to, go on to beta blockers to slow my heart down, but i dont want to be doing that. It sounds like everythings ok but I think he has taken the right steps if i say so myself! Thats kind've what I expected the outcome to be so I'm quite pleased, not as anxious anyway. At least I can relax a little bit over my birthday weekend-it starts here!!!
Thanks for all your concerns and thoughts xxx
