Re: Palpitations

I had my ecg and some bloods taken yesterday to test FBC, U's and E's, thyroid, LFTs, random blood glucose. I got a phonecall today from the doctor to say the ecg was abnormal- he said there were far more ectopic beats than he imagined and that he could tell i was actually having a palp when i got the ecg done, which was probably a good thing actually!! he said he rang a cardiologist for advice and they said they cant really do much for me apart from reassure me. He said if it gets worse or i really cant cope with them, to go back. for now though i have to just put up with it and hope it goes away. but i really think this is all due to anxiety. i mean today i was waiting in a queue at the bank to pay some cheques in and i was getting panicky and getting palps when it was closer for me to go to the cashier. i hate using the telephone too and ringing people i dont know. i book all my docs appts online now for example cos i cant stand phoning!! thats just an example of a few things making me feel like this. Another abnormality he mentioned was my liver function, which is a totally different issue. he asked how much i drank ( i said hmmm well....!!!) but he said it could be the pill (im on dianette and due a break from it in about 6 months time). anyway i should get some repeat bloods done in a few months time to check liver and in the meantime i am goin to try and cut down on the alcohol cos i was worried anyway about how much i am drinking. for now as far as my ticker's concerned, i just have to put up and shut up.

Re: Palpitations

Hi Lou

im sorry to hear youve not been well - i qualified in december and im not sure if its been three years catching up on me or what but ive started having panic attacks so i do know a bit how you feel - its very scary. the past two weeks ive noticed im jerking too (lol that sounds hilarious!!) but honestly all the time my head and body (just small movements) im totally crapping it in fact - god knows whats going on!! it is very scary, and i wish i had your courage and get myself off to the docs! i think ive just got myself very stressed out.

hopefully things will settle down for you though - I know how stressful third year is!

much luv

ally xx

Hope you feel better soon Lou emoticon I hate using the telephone talking to people I dont know too cuz I have a stutter and the build up to making calls is awful sometimes! My mentor's been really nice about it though and lets me make calls in the resource room instead of the office which takes most of the pressure off. Take care-you've not got long to go now! emoticon xx

Re: Palpitations

Oh Lou hope you start to feel better soon emoticon. I went though all of this when i was about 17/18 and i know its not a pleasant experience but it will pass.

I used to feel the same about making and receiving phone calls, but started working in a small office so had no choice but to answer and that helped in its own funny way. Sometimes its best to take a deep breath and just do it straight away before you have chance to dwell on it.

Alcohol well iv recently stopped drinking, i wasn't a heavy drinker but was starting to feel rough in the mornings, and it took me ages to get going, so my husband and i decided to give it a break, its been 4 weeks now and i feel better than i have done for ages it wasn't such a big deal.

You will be fine

Awwww Lou honey emoticon emoticon emoticon

hope those eectopics die down a bit... i think its prehaps something many of us go through at some point in our lives.... i used to get paniky about getting off my bus... when i got near my stop id get ectopics worried id miss the stop... but iv not had itfor years now.

might be worthwhile getting your bloods repeated and getting them checked every 6 months or so.

Re: Palpitations

thanx everyone, im having one this very moment cos im thinking about nightshift!! im such a freak! and im also sooooo worried over this bloody essay ive got on management. if i knew i was going to pass this next 2 essays and that a job was waiting for me at the end then i bet i would be feeling so much better. i think its just not knowing where im going to be in 6 months time. im quite down at the moment, even though im back on a great placement i still havent met my mentor yet and i need to arrange a meeting with her and my tutor together which is proving a nightmare to organise (got a feeling ive already mentioned this but tough ****e) my tutor keeps making new dates to meet up but were always off when she arranges it and im not going to meet my mentor properly until week 4 and its still only week 2 as from tomorrow. emoticon also need to have a meeting with a lecturer from uni who is marking this nightmare of a essay. just feel like the next few months are going to be the most stressful of my life. emoticon

Re: Palpitations

Aww Lou sorry to hear you have not been so well and that are feeling a little out of sorts. You are not a freak, we all get stressed out and worried about things its only natural, its just cause you care about your work and career.

I know where you are coming from, i am a complete stress head and am in a total panic about starting placement tomorrow. So you are not alone all of us stress at some point about one thing or another. Plus coming up to qualifying bring with it even more worries so take come deep breaths and don't overload yourself.

Thinking of you and hope you feel bit brighter soon.

xxx emoticon

Re: Palpitations

you will be fine lou! it is really pants not knowing and its only now that im at the other side of essay writing and job hunting that i can fully understand what your going through emoticon it is the worst part but youve always sounded so organised and more than capable of passing your final essays emoticon i know that you CAN do it! i think you need to relax and take it one essay at a time that way at the minute you have only one to pass! make appointments to see your academic advisor and get them to proof read your essay etc, feel free to PM me if you need to talk or rant! so chin up, deep breaths and just think that six months is still a way off and you can do it emoticon
