Re: elective placement starts tomorrow! hello another update here! been on my placement for 2 weeks already and im still enjoying it thankfully! feel like ive found my feet so that helps alot, start gynae theatre in two weeks time and i cant wait! just hope i like it as much as i did last year,

Re: elective placement starts tomorrow! i know lou! i do like it, i scrubbed up today for a breast reduction and at some points i did have my hands inside this ladies breasts whilst the surgeon cut away the fatty tissue, what i didnt expect was to feel the tissue being cut it was kinda weird, but i still liked it! one more week til gynae

Re: elective placement starts tomorrow! hello! well ive now been in my gynae theatre placement for two weeks and im really enjoying myself. for the first few weeks im doing anaesthetics and recovery and then il be moving onto scrub. today i had a really good experience in the obstetrics theatre, a young girl of 22 was brought round to have a c section done under GA as an emergency, her membranes had ruptured spontaneously at 10.00 am this morning and on arrival to hospital 15 mins later she was already 4 cms and the baby was found to have severe bradycardia, she was wheeled to theatre which is about 50 yards away and was just about to be put un der and she said she needed to push, the midwife cheked her to see if she had possibly progressed since the left the ward 2 minutes previously and found that she was 10 cms! so i got to hold this girls hand as she pushed her first baby in to the world and saw it all up close and personal! i just felt so chuffed for that girl, waters breaking to giving birth in 51 minutes! and she didnt have to miss the birth of her first baby, which by the way was as cute as a button
