well my third week as a staff nurse is over and im enjoying it more and more emoticon been scrubbing up this week and the operations were: Vericose veins, anal wart removal emoticon and inguinal hernia repair. im doing more each week and that is a confidence boost but i still have a long way to go before i master the art of being a confident scrub nurse emoticon

Re: life as a staff nurse!

lol i know it wasnt the most pleasent of things but hey somebodies got to do it lol emoticon had a stressful day on thursday, a snappy surgeon returned from his holiday and just keep snapping on at me which i really dont need when im trying 110% to pre empt what they are doing and what instruments they will need next etc.!! so im just going to keep my head down and get on with it and also try to toughen myself up.

Re: life as a staff nurse!

been in my job for 5 full weeks now. iam enjoying it but find it stressfull. i always feel like every day is a battle for me to get to the next level, which i have to say i didnt think id be doing as much as iam doing 5 weeks ago so i suppose that shows how far ive come in my scrubbing tecnique. nobody ever said it was gonna be easy so il just keep going with the flow of things emoticon

posticon Re: life as a staff nurse!

been working in theatres for 6 weeks now, starting to feel much more comfortable and im pleased with the amount of operations i now feel comfortable doing emoticon

this is some of the operations i can scrub for on my own,

hernia (Inguinal, umbilical and incisional)
anal warts emoticon emoticon
stoma's,
varicose veins,
laparoscopic choleycystectomy,
EUA and drainage of sinus.

actually doesnt seem that much when its written in a list but it feels like loads when your doing two or three procedures in a shift.

think il be moving over to bigger operations next week so im kacking it a bit but im sure il be fine emoticon
