Runs in the family? For many complicated reasons, i've never been particularly close to my family and i'm not going to go into it all (you'd get very bored of reading it well before the end) but I am trying to change this now.
I didn't know of any of my family being involved in health care, but i have now discovered that there's quite a tradition of it in my family. My great grandmother was a nurse, my grandmother was a HCA, and my uncle was a nurse in the army (he left the profession when he came back to "sivvy street" cos of the back biting). My aunt has also told me that she always wanted to be a nurse but she didn't get any qualifications and felt too stupid(undiagnosed dyslexia).
I know this won't really be of interest to anyone else, but i've put it in my diary for my own reflection really.
Re: Runs in the family? My great grandmother was a nurse, my auntie is a physio therapists, my uncle is a heart surgeon and my mum always wanted to be a nurse but was discouraged by my gran and grandad, she now works as a care assistant in a nursing home.
Re: Runs in the family? My fool of a father had lots of children so I have loads of half brothers and sisters Ive never met.
A few years ago I met one of them who told me I look like a "mini version" of one of my older sisters and few months ago I saw one who grew up with her so knows her properly and he told me she qualified as a mental health nurse a few years ago. Apparently I'm just like her too Lol, guess genes really are strong!
Re: Runs in the family? Apart from my mum who is a senior carer in a nursing home, I have no rellies that have ever worked in health. I have always been interested in medicine since I was knee high to a grasshopper.
I am the first one... ever ...in my family to go to university. I always joke that I think I was found in a skip because me and my brothers are totally different. Chalk and cheese doesnt come close!
Sometimes I could wring their necks, but that is in a brother's job description.
