Nightmare shift! Well the ward has been absolutely manic today. Several falls, 2 discharges and a death .
We also had a usless hca on who just wandered about and did nothing while we were all dashing around like headless chickens She then called me and the other student unprofessional (at which point the permanent HCA pointed out how hard we had been working and that we were right to do what we did (the HCA yesterday didn't document ANY ob's and we brought it to the attention of the staff nurse).
The death also upset me. I think it's because it's the first time i have found someone like that and he died while i was trying to help him Apparently his family were comforted by the fact that i was there with him and he wasn't alone.
Oh well, I'm going to go and rest my VERY sore feet and have a bottle (or 2) of wine tonight.
Re: Nightmare shift! Well, yesterday started with "you're working B side today because their auxillary phoned in sick today!"
I've barely seen my mentor, never mind worked with her. Again! I'm going to scrutinise the off duty tomorrow to see if i have any shifts with her. If i don't or if she changes them at the last min like she did last time i'm going to complain and ask to be given another mentor.
