Back to earth with a bump! Had a great family holiday camping in Italy loads of activities, wind surfing, kayaking, tennis swimming etc really enjoyable....
then back to a letter from sons diabetes team he has antibodies to coeliac disease going in for biopsy of small bowel on tuesday to have endoscopy wednesday a night of worry and sleeping on a chair for me.
Get results in about a week, ever had that feeling you want to be the one who is ill not your child! It could be negative I hope so at the mo we have to look at all carbohydrate and sugar content of food we may have to get gluten free too (gives me a headache thinking about it)
..oh well you just get on with it I suppose.
Re: Back to earth with a bump! glad you had a good holiday annie it sounds like you had great fun.
sorry hear about your sons possible coeliac, i know it seems harsh but dont be too disheartened... i used to have a friend whho was coeliac and there are now loads of gluten free products so its a lot easier but still a hassle you could do with out.
Re: Back to earth with a bump! Well...he is positive to coeliac poor thing only 12 and diabetic too there have been a lot of tears in our house
We are getting a bread maker from the diabetes team and have lists of what to eat and what to avoid....big learning curve
but hopefully he will feel better.
We have decided to all go on it as a family so maybe we will be healthier too I am finding it really hard to accept why us etc, it should be me not adam, it's good writing on here because to talk to anyone I just cry.........but we'll bounce back from it and it will become part of life I suppose.
Thanks for listening to my woes folks I feel we've definately been dealt more than our fair share
Re: Back to earth with a bump! i know how you feel annie... when something difficult happens to us it seems like a number of other problems occur at the same time.
but although its hard its just an obstacle that you and your family will get over and probably be a lot more understanding too for others in the same position.
it seems unfair when some people never have a worry and others have so many one after the other... but its often these hurdles that makes who we are.
Re: Back to earth with a bump! hello annie hope things are improving and you are all slowly coming to terms with your sons diabetes and coeliac, im sure you are all very strong and wont be beaten! best wishes to your family. xxxx
Re: Back to earth with a bump! sorry to hear about your problems my bast mates brother has coeliac and like lulu says it is so much easier to buy gluten free foods, cheaper to make your own though.
Hope things pick up for you big hugs to you and Adam love jo xx
