Well my first mark back was ****e. It was my sociology essay. I really love sociology and feel I have a really good understanding of it, I've read up lots on it and took ages doing my assignment (5 short answer questions).
I only got 48%. I say only as I'm disappointed with my mark. I know it's a pass. We were graded
A - Excellent
B - Very good
C - Good
D- Satisfactory
E - Unsatisfactory/fail
I got a C so I know I could still have got lower (D) and still passed it but I feel so crap and weepy about it. I really hoped and expected to get in the 60's.
The marking criteria was broken down into different sections
Relevance to Questions
Knowledge of Literature
Conceptual understanding
Clarity of expression
Writing and Referencing.
For all of those I got a C grade.
While I'm disappointed by my overall mark I'm more dissapointed that I only scored a C for Writing and Referencing. Now to me, that's they way it's been written i.e. tenses, spelling, paragraphs as well as of course the references. I know my refs were correct, probably perfect, I know my in text refs were good I never said anything that I didn't reference, it's all in my own words, it's all spelled correctly, my paragraphs I'm sure were pretty much ok and it's written in an academic style - so why just the C grade?? It sucks. There are people in my class who still can't reference, they just give the link to the website and I tell you see if they got a C as well I'm gonna hit the roof. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others and I wouldn't have had my marks been decent.
I've got a mountain of work to do before January - at least one reflective essay, a psychology essay, 4 annotated bibliographys, at least one action plan, my clinical assessment document giving evidence of how I completed all my competancies as well as a physiology exam to study for. I'm really really worried about my ability to cope with all this in light of the poor marks in sociology.
