Community Placement

Remember all my concerns re this placement? Well tomorrow is D-Day.
Despite the fact that they told me 'not to visit prior to starting' i went in last week anyhow.....you know, i was just passing and thought i'd check i was in the right place" emoticon I met the head HV and the placement seems like it will be ok, very busy.
So, it all remains to be seen. My tutors told me they would move me somewhere else but my thoughts were that it may turn out OK, and that another student might get all the crap if i didn't. I'm quite looking forward to it.....even bought some new smart trousers in honour emoticon emoticon (not that i need an excuse to buy clothes)

Re: Community Placement

Well first day over with. Maybe im too used to busy wards now but i found it quite slow.
The staff were very nice and have decided how they are going to split my time up. I got quite a few references written up for my next essay in the 'office' time so i suppose i can call that time well spent. I am going to reserve judgement on how i like community placement till next week (cant judge on ust one day can ya? emoticon ). I did kinda like the baby clinic (weighing) today so thats a +.
Im looking forward to 2mrw now....

Re: Community Placement

I enjoyed my day with the incont nurse and also the diabetic nurse. The minor op clinic was brill and i was automonuse it was great.I do hope you enjoy this placement and i no what you mean about it being a slower pace. I used to take in my Pen to pop into there comp when it was quite and i would do my essays, i always had a apropriate book in my bag etc on what i was doing my essay etc on. How long is this placement for hon????. As you said wait and see its best you are doing the right thing. Good luck for tomm and the rest of the placement.
