The count down is on!!

So on 32 days to go!
Its very exciting, all these different thoughts and emotions happening. I'm really looking forward to starting, and am feeling very impatient that time seems to be moving so slow! But at the same time am feeling worried about what's going to happen. Will I be able to take proper notes at lectures, remember stuff, do ok on placement, not be freaked out by seeing some things (like poo!!) and will I not just do ok, but do well??
I guess this is what the majority of people feel when they start something new.

I'm finding my biology class more intense than chemistry.. I do remember more stuff from school, but am a bit frustrated that unlike chemistry where most of what I was doing had a right and wrong answer, biology doesn't! But have been working in the lab, doing experiments etc I have to do a mini 500 word research on Lysosomal Storage Disease for friday. Thats interesting, but its taking me a while to figure out the format of this now that iv done most of the research.

Otherwise, its fun balancing my job with these classes and everything else! Oh and have my bank interview next Friday, will let you know how that goes!

pauline to be honest your biology class sounds a lot more intense than what you get in uni... or maybe iv just forgotten all the bits about lysosomes etc emoticon

Most classes on our course get handouts or you can download the lecture notes off of Blackboard....

You glad that you chose Caley? How is the Summer schooling going? You have an advatage over the other new starts that you know the uni that wee bit more.

I know exactly how you feel, I was literally ****ting myself on my first day... but I am sure you will love it.

Hey Paul, yes doing summer school has given me an advantage... plus ive got to meet some people from my class!
I really enjoyed chemistry, but am finding biology alot more stressful. Not so much course content, but demands on my time.. its tough balancing my job with full time course! I'm really looking forward to finishing work etc so i can concentrate on study, and cant wait to start my course!!
As for have I chosen the right place... hmmm I'll let you know once iv done a bit of the course!!

Well I passed my first biology exam yipeee emoticon

Also interview went well and providing all my occy health check, references, discloser are ok then there is no probs me starting on the nurse bank. The only issue is fitting in my 5 days training! I have to find if I can do the 5 days once I have started uni or not.. so it might take a while, but fingers crossed I will get there in the end!

It was very strange going into the hospital for my interview.. i felt very weird, sort of nervous but not if you know what I mean. It really confirmed that I am making the right choice going into nursing rather than staying in music!

I was exactly the same the first time I went into the hospital after gaining a place on the course. Felt weird cos I knew that in a few years I would be the one running about, sweating buckets with the hair all over the place....lol

To join the nurse bank I had to do go to one paltry training day where they told us about infection control, CPR, blood transfusion and the Bank procedures. Was the most boring seven hours of my life, except the CPR which was good.

well done pauline on passing your biology, i am the opposite of you i really love biology but hate chemistry!! you have done really well all your hard work has paid off, its a lovely feeling isnt it achieving something love jo xx

Hey Pauline,
You sound like your doing great, well done on your interview and your exam.
I know exactly what you mean about mixed feelings, I have far too much nervous energy already, and I have four weeks to go. I wont be able to sit still the weekend before.
Let us know how your first day goes and keep us updated on your bank training.
