Open Day at Uni
Well I'm back in Glasgow!! Its nice to be back again to the lovely dreecht weather...
Anyway, today was the applicants open day at Glasgow Uni. I have a conditional place for Glasgow, and unconditional for Caledonian so today was to really help me with my decision. I am trying to keep an open mind when I visit the two uni's so I can decide where is best for me.
I was very impressed with Glasgow... I liked the staff and students that I met, and the course layout and options look good. Found out it is a small dept, with maybe 50 students maximum in each year and I would get placements in first year (I had heard that 1st year was completly academic). The Head of Dept was talking about the joining together of Caley and Glasgow Uni, and said that all the details would be confirmed in the next week or two, but it was looking most likely that we could possibly end up being based at Caley, although we would do our own coursework, which would give us access to the great facilities at Caley. Anyway, she said that they use the practise ward at Caley at the moment..
I did feel very old though(I'm only 26!) as there were mostly school leavers there with their parents.. I was quite surprised at this as I thought there were more mature students on nursing courses or at least about half and half.
So, got to keep open mind, and get up to Caley for a visit, but am very impressed with Glasgow, (it used to be my first choice anyway) and think I would really like to go there!
Also got some new books today, so am well excited about starting in October!
