Me...
I am a 19 year old soon-to-be third year student nurse at Glasgow Caledonian University. Left school after 6th year and had loved sciences throughout school especially Biology. I applied for both Glasgow and Glasgow Caledonian, got unconditional offers for them both. After some thought and talking it over with friends and family, I decided on Caley.
Started when I was a fresh-faced 17 year old school boy.. which has good but also bad points. Nursing is not really in my family, well except my mum who is a Senior Carer in a Nursing home [in charge of her own unit on nights]. But as I said I always loved biology and also I loved all the hospital programmes when I was younger, e.g. Casualty.
I am loving every minute at Caley, the uni really supports you and is far more down to earth than Glasgow. Every single one of my placements I have enjoyed, with amazing staff and patients. I know I have chosen the career for me... but in what form I am still undecided but emergency nursing has always been one of my goals.. I am also currently a CSW in my local hospital and I am gaining lots of experience and the money helps too...
On my personal life, I have an older and younger brother [yup, middle child here ]. My big brother has a wee girl who just turned four and I love her to bits, although I could strangle her sometimes... That is only babysitting for a few hours a week!! How am I gonna cope if I have kids of my own....
I have many close friends, none my best friend per se. I love having a laugh and unwinding especially after a hard week.. Be it going to the cinema, or the pub...
On a few saturday nights a month, you will no doubt find me in Glasgow, in the Garage or Jumpin Jaks... acting a fool.
Thats about it...

Re: Me...
You took my words out of my mouth. I find general ward nursing exceedinly routine and once I am in a routine - I get bored. I need stimulation and I feel that in casualty I can get that.
Although I do acknowledge that casualty has its own routine, but that routine is usually unpredicatble and you never know what will come through that door. A child with a skelf or a multiple RTA!
I work better under pressure, I have the knack of being able to make decisions on my feet. However, that does not mean that I am rubbish when not under pressure.
Casulaty has always been a dream of mine, ever since I was knee high to a grasshopper when watching Casualty on the telly. I think emergency nursing is definately for me.
I don't think I could work in ITU, Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, General Medical, COTE, Renal, ID, theatres...
Guess all that leaves is General Surgery and A+E!!
And Lou, you are going to have to relinquish your title, I am the true Casualty Queen.
