Bemboni, just remember you're there as supernumeri if they are short on day's you can't or won't work that is not your problem!!!! Justify your action's to yourself ( you are training to improve family life...you want to learn...) and you are not there to make things easier for other members of staff or win popularity competitions for who can save the struggling ward single handed. I know this might be a bit blunt or hard but i have learnt that you have to look after number one and that by doing all these extra/unreasonable shifts you are not helping yourself to stay the pace and will ultimately burn yourself out. This is because the nature of most work ethos is to exploit those that are willing to go the extra mile without suporting them when they need suport (such as time of for burn out or family problems) Good luck and get tough!!!
