The end of my first placement.

I Can't believe that 7 weeks is up already emoticon where has the time gone? I feel very sad to have left emoticon tonight but had some very positive feedback from mentor, other staff and patients emoticon so feel very pleased with the whole experience! I have to admit for the first 3 weeks I hated it! emoticon but ended up absolutely loving it and making some great friends who have supported me and helped me achieve loads! Reflecting on the last 7 weeks and the reasons why the whole experience didn't blow my socks off to start with may have something to do with the time (or lack of it) and building relationships. When you start a job for real it takes 3 - 4 weeks to settle in and feel part of the team emoticon but on placement you don't have that time so you bounce on the ward and expect to be accepted from day 1 but it doesn't happen straight away and then you feel isolated and very out of your depth emoticon but as time goes on and with perseverence you end up being part of the team and feel very supported. I thrive on team work and even though I can work alone team work is what makes me tick. I think the staff on my ward are fab and I have a huge respect for them all. I have learnt so much and can relate lots of theory to practice.
I have got next week off I am so emoticon and want to emoticon for the week before we start back to uni. Anyway guys onwards and upwards.
