A Question of Scale
Okay, one of the announcements that was made during the recent schism between Frank and the forums was that the deckplan scales were going to be converted from Imperial to Metric units. Fortunately, yellow scale is pretty much already in metric as the scale is roughly 1 pixel = 1 cm.
That leaves red scale (1 pixel = 1 inch) and blue scale (1 pixel = 2 inches).
Frank appeared to have followed a doubling pattern when originally creating the scales... so I would suggest following a similar approach for the new conversions:
Yellow Scale: 1 pixel = 1 cm. Leave as is.
Red Scale: 1 pixel = 2 cm.
Blue Scale: 1 pixel = 4 cm.
The difference between this and the existing scales wouldn't be monumental -- red would go from 12 pixels/foot to 15 and blue would go from 6 to 7.5 pixels/foot -- but if this is approved by the membership then the question becomes do we re-draw all ships currently in process or simply start all new ships in the new scale?
Feedback everyone, por favor...

Re: A Question of Scale
blue equals 20 pixels : 1 metre
Red equals 40 pixels : 1 metre
Yellow equals 100 pixels : 1 metre

Re: A Question of Scale
what Eric is saying is essentially the same as what I said, but it is better to measure in metres rather then centimetres, for the sake of consistency

Re: A Question of Scale
I think that due to the fact that there are already so many ships out there wit h the old system, adjusting all the ships to fit the new reference, is not really a priority....at least not yet.

Re: A Question of Scale
Well the "error" would be only 30Pixel on a Ship with 90m Length. Basically it would be 1.5m to short, or an Error Margin of 1.66666%.
One could try to stretch some Ships, that wouldn't be that much work, though it might result in different Looks (not much).

Re: A Question of Scale
I say leave the older ships alone for now. Lets work on finishing ships that we still have in the yard, then when time permits an individual in this community can go back and stretch the older ships to fit the new scale.
