Project Roster

I am suggesting, that we put up a project roster on the gallery page. A roster that lists which projects are beeing worked on and by whom, along with a status tag like "sceduled", "active", "stopped", "completed", "abandoned". Sure, we got all this right here in the forum and we got the featured projects list on top. But it is not very convenient for people browsing the gallery, having to sort through the forum. Forums are great for somethings, but one thing they lack is first look clarity. Many people sure would like to know, what they can expect from the future and what our plans are.

Each entry could be a direct link to the appropriate forum entry and each persons name working on the project could be a link to his email address, in case they are any suggestions, questions, or help offerings from outside the forum. Sure, we prefer people to indulge themselves in the forum, but not everybody of actual use really does so.

Therfor I think a project roster on the gallery page would be a good way to strengthen the ties between the forum and the gallery.

Re: Project Roster

I think that's a really good idea,. actually.

I will be on vacation again as of this friday at 6:30pm - which means I'll be conscious and lucid around Sunday - probably...in any case, I would like some help with the compilation of this list.

It would be great for those people currently working on projects to sound off so we can get those up and posted in the gallery with appropriate links. Please members, post here which project you are working on so that we can illustrate them better.

Void - we talked about the additional buttons on the gallery page. Perhaps we need to determine what 5 additional buttons would fit best;

Projects in Progress
News Archive
Components for Bases

2 more are needed.

regards,
Lucas

I'd put components for bases into a category named 'floorplans', because that category could also include ordinary houses, be it the Mos Eisley Cantina, or Obi-Wans outhouse toilet.

I'd also like to add a 'General Artwork' category, but only if we can collect enough (and good enough) non-deckplan Star Wars artwork to make it reasonable. If there is, I'd be happy to provide the webspace to showcase it. I'd also like to do the same for Logos, if there is enough interest. Instead of Logos, we could also do corporate profiles, which would include Logos as part of the CI, but most of that is already in the rpg sources.

So I'd suggest:

Projects Roster
News Archive
Floorplans
General Artwork
Logos

Please feel free to discuss this, people. Just don't forget the topic is about a projects roster, first of all.

While this is a great idea, I would rather see the parts section started next. I think that would help those of us who want to speed up the deckplan drawing process and/or are not that good at IDing the internals

And this has what exactly to do with anything inside this thread?

Your starting a new project when there are other things that need to be done.

I did say "it is a great idea".

The only problem with that is while the gallery site is still as much a WIP as any of the deckplan projects here, there's always going to be a difference of opinion as to what gets worked on first.

As of right now I would not put the parts & accessories on high priority due to the fact that so far all the ship components come from ships on Frank's site. There are of course the original images that can be found on the Void's Gunstore and kitbasher threads -- but then again, you can find them there already.

When we have a larger stockpile of our own ships that we can dissect and catalog, then I'll support the call for the effort.

---------------------------------------------------

As for myself, I'm working on the following projects:

- Cygnus StarSpeeder (Star Tours variant and others)
- Nen-Carvon Imperial Rapid Deployment Station

Both are progressing slowly but surely at the moment.

To be precises they are planning to do so. They didn't actually start a new project. Besides, it's not really a new project it's still 'project gallery page'.
Anyway: That would be great, but only list those projects which make it through the planning phase. As long as nothing is drawn, a project isn't started. (Only my humble opinion of course)

Well consider the Starwind being stopped right now, but being on the Verge to become abandoned.

@Slay
Don't you think its a bit too ... erm well lets say overboard... from you to say that you know whats needs to be done first.

After all its not you programming the Website, and considering Voids work on the Czerka/Nella, don't you think hes capable of handling the plate he did create for himself ?
