Re: Life Support systems

I added the previous information as material to work with in this discussion. I've included fuel as well to cover the whole "consumables" picture.

And now escape equipment as well since it seems that it is needed. This is from Star Wars Trilogy Sourcebook, Special Edition.

excellent - thanks for the scans Xynar. that is definitely useful.

As far as standarsization is concerned, I was thinking along the lines of fundamental standardization of consumption, but it appears that we have achieved that based on the information gathered regarding human lung capacity.

Other species can be incorporated as required by the players / GM's

Do you have anything on the "breath masks" or the things that are used underwater?

Lithium hydroxide canisters are used on the Shuttle and ISS systems to "scrub" carbon dioxide, which is dumped overboard.

Why dump something overboard when it can be recycled?

I also remembered a part of the Thrawn triology has a pilot eject from her craft (Mara Jade), and it talks about the remotness of rescue. I will post soonly, after I find the section.

I'm not stating that SWU tech has to dump it overboard, just that currently, today, inorbit, no one needs it.

I think plantlife would be an excellent way to convert it back to oxygen. In SWU.

Tanks of Alge might work well. They dont take up much space. Alge is hard to kill off, and its does produce a good portion of the earths are as it is, so confining it in a few small contgainers maybe a litter water/alge combo per person. Or reall dependng how much CO2 the alge could absorbe per hour.

Infinate air posibility.
