Stun Blaster Bolts

In ANH, Liea was knocked out with a stun shot that was in the form of a big blue arch-thing. Do all stun shots look like flying hoola-hoops, or can stun shots come in the form of your stand blaster bolt?

Thanks.

I think ANH is the only time we see a stun shot. Based on that, I would say all stun shots are blue and round. But there is no reason to believe that it couldn't be otherwise. LIke that for a political answer? emoticon

I'd say they are all blue, short range, spreading rings.

Other functional concepts of stun-weapons might look different, like sonic stunners and such, but the stun-blasters should look like in ANH.

And just by the way: Try to parry a big spreading ring with a lightsaber. emoticon

I wouldn't think a sonic stunner would be visible since it is sound. But then again, you shouldn't be able to see somthing moving at light speed either.

But thinking about the whole "round" beam vs. lightsabre, I would think that if you broke the circle at any point you would defeat the stun. Just my thought.

Re: Stun Blaster Bolts

Well if we saw the Geonosian sonic blasters, we might see stun blasters too. Then again, Geonosian sonic ball-things were stabolized by a plasma or blaster core, or so I've heard somewhere. But that's a whole nother story...

And wouldn't it be possible to just jump through that giant expanding ring (if you saw it coming ahead of time, of course). Maybe the effects are felt within the ring too...

I once heard that the Naboo figured out a way to charge a standard bolt in just the right way as to leave a stun effect. But I'm not sure if that's cannon or not.

I don't think the RING is actually the problem. I see this more like a shotgun. Jump through the ring and you just jumped straight into the center of effect. emoticon

And when I mentioned sonic stunners, I did not mean they would be visible. They were meant as an example of stun weapons, which are NOT visible, especially not as blue rings, because they are based on a different functional concept.

a sonic pulse of sufficient power might distort the air kind of like waves through water...or a heat distortion...only moving fast through the air, but I don't think it would show an electrical discharge like a blaster or the stunner in ANH.

Uh, we might be getting a tad off topic.

So must stun blasts be giant growing hoola-hoops, or can it be in bolt form?

I've read somewhere that they only look giant because of the point of view of the shot, Leia's perspective that is and that it's coming right at her, and therefore growing.

They may be blue rings of a more conventional size.

I think a stun blast is an area of effect weapon, like a shot gun.

could be a low power discharge of a standard blaster.

Considering the trooper says "set for stun" this means that the standard blaster that the stormtroopers carry have a stun setting.

perhaps the focussing lens can be realigned with a selector switch...this might indicate a flexible lens material.
