CEC Escort-design

Started re-working a design I first found on the Admiral's site (I know nothing good there) but I kind of' fell in love with it. As it turned out the original designer and I have been working on various projects together for a few years now (Star Trek mostly).
The concept (from my point of view) is some form of pre-Empire light escort ship, to be used with lightly armed or unarmed merchant traffic. When fighters don't have the range and a capital ship would just not be practical (too expensive or overkill). This is the exterior so far (B/W due to GIF color conversion issues on my end). I'm having a little trouble visualizing the center side view, and am trying to imagine just how I'm going to layout the deck plan internally (best I can come up with is some form of split-level design).

(Edit: Image removed, see up-date below)

Comments welcome.

Edit: Stupid Photobucket size adjustments, Image split into three parts and it's still not working...

Re: CEC Escort-design

I see potential in that design. Good similarities to both the Corellian Gunship and the Consular Cruiser.

I think it would look more aggressive, if you'd make it slightly longer by pulling the superstructure a bit more out to the front and raising the area under the sensor dish with the superstructure slope part a bit more to the front. A similar effect could be reached, by changing the angle of that slope so that it matches the side parts on the top view.

Perhaps 3d visualisation might help to get the side view you said you are having problems with right.

Void, did some of your recommendations (I think). Tried raising the area under the sensor dish, just didn't look right to me. The adjustments are in red.

As far as the 3D, no can do. I'm not equipped technologically or mentally for that task.

WardenWolf, your more than welcome to help.

P.S. Found the problem with Photobucket, I'm limited to 800 pixels in width. The original GIF is 1004 pixels wide. I may need to cut this image in half to post it...

Re: CEC Escort-design

Phoenix, the dimensions of the fore section are inconsistent from view to view, I'm working on corrections right now, but I haven't included any suggestions that VOID may have put forward, sorry...more in a little bit. I'm going to assume that the fore section is meant to be square in cross-section from the front?

112 pixel tall x 116 pixels wide, rectangle with a trapezoidal top. They're correct.

Now if your referring to the first post, yes everything is skuered due to the Photobucket 800 Pixel limit. The fore view was well under the limit.

Reaper63,
There will be windows, just haven't added them yet as the inturnal layout is not set.

Re: CEC Escort-design

Here's what I came up with. Yes, I did forget a few lines.

Image

The top front has an "L" shaped notch with a box-like protrusion in the center.

Hmm, your side is about the same thing I came up with. I'm going to design some cross-section images to help with the visual. One is going to be right at the Sensor Dish/Antenna, I see that being one of the problem areas.
