Re: CEC Escort-design
The bridge domes are officially shield-related, whether you like it or not. There are no valid reasons for this to be considered an error, and thus corrected, and this conclusion is supported by cannon evidence. (It may be a somewhat stupid idea to make the domes shield projectors, but then again, so was the climax of the Battle of Yavin). In your own campaigns and stories, you may choose for the domes to be sensors, however, you may not claim that this theory represents any form of official position on the matter.
[Edit]
I aplogize for ranting; I have a splitting headache and I don't like it when people become "The pox on the official material" snobs.

Re: CEC Escort-design
According to the "The Complete Locations of Star Wars: Inside the Worlds of the Entire Star Wars Saga", one of the latest official sources on that topic, they are actually both.
Most of the big ball structure, that looks a lot like a sensor system, is actually exactly that, while parts of the base and structural elements of it have to do with shield projection.

Re: CEC Escort-design
A retroactive attempt at appeasment? Interesting. Previous sources all assign a primary function of shield projection to the dome (it IS officially called a shield dome in most cases). This would make me inclined to believe that The Complete Locations got it backwards, and the dome proper houses the shield projector (similar to the cutaway diagram in the Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology), with sensor panels around the base of the structure, and more sensor antennae around the top, and perhaps even panels making up part or all of the dome itself.
I think if we continue to discuss this, it should be elsewhere, and Phoenix can have his thread back.

Re: CEC Escort-design
And two KM-123R's. Those are 6D capital scale torpedo launchers carrying six missiles apiece.
