Re: CEC Escort-design

I would think that ship to ship comm. has a short range antenna, like the airplanes of today. So, maybe all of the ships had multiple arrays. They were just to small to see.

Conceded, but we'll still have to show, on this ship, that we're not solely relying on that one rectenna...unless you want to write a really long capsule explaining how the ship communicates, emoticon

Right off hand, the only ship I can think of that has a different antenna is the A6. It seems that it would be very easy to add any number of antennas anywhere on the ship.

Thanks Lucas, that's a rare occurrence. Enjoy it while it last.

Well there is 6 Comm Dishes on the republic Cruiser, 5 in the tight group just before the engines and then one smaller one above the ****pit.

But keep in mind this example is a "Diplomatic" ship, the comms may be additional from stock.

Have you thought of not raising the forward fusalage quite so much, or even at all?

Not advocating either approach just putting ideas out there.

The crusier also has several regular stick antennas. I doubt all would be used for communication.

Here's a thought, could you mount the antenna on top of the gun mount?

Re: CEC Escort-design

Putting the array on top of the ventral turret would be possible.

And as far as the ship from Ep I, it doesn't have any turrets in the way, either. Throw a turret in front of that comm array and see what's what...further, that ship is 115m long or so. It's got more length for the array to "get away from the bow" so to speak. This aspect narrows the blindspot directly in front of the vessel.

Just noticed something about that Cruiser (and the Falcon, ISD, or any of the capital ships from the new movies). There is no comm anything on the bottom, the side of the ship pointing planetside when landing. We might be reading too much into this "line of sight communication" theroy.
