Re: Czerka Yacht WIP
Looking good. Keep up the great work. Looks like I'll have to be picking up a massuse droid...
Is that "pink stuff" standard on starships? My d20 ship has extra armor and I was thinking that the "pink stuff" could be considered the extra armor.

Re: Czerka Yacht WIP
In d20 and d6 - extra Armor is always considered to take up extra internal space. This is why there is a cargo space/tonnage used.
Now I view this extra armor plating as making the ship look normal. If you wanted the ship to look like it is extra armored, then there is no internal component, but all the plates are on the outside of the ship.

Re: Czerka Yacht WIP
The pink stuff is insulation, rupture sensors and smart foam. Then that layer is breached, the foam closes small ruptures and holes in the hull and the sensors report the damage. If you want to armor a ship, you have to use one of three methods:
1. Remove the inner hull, add outer hull plating and reinstall inner hull.
2. Bolt plates to the outer hull.
3. Strip the hull and reconstruct it with stronger material.

Re: Czerka Yacht WIP
With all due respect, Tiree, the tonnage that extra armor consumes is only a factor of the ship's reduced overall lift capacity. It cannot take up any appreciable internal volume. Shields, however, can take up extra internal volume is they are in addition too or larger than the original shield systems. So, again, while extra armor reduces the ship's lift capacity, there is no logical reason why it would occupy actual internal volume.

Re: Czerka Yacht WIP
As soon as the ship is big enough that it never lands on a planet, the reduced lift capacity has no relevance.
It does not have much direct relevance anyway, since the cargo capacity can be fully used without any effect on the ships atmospheric speed. The rules are not very balanced. Many things that have to work, don't. Many that do shouldn't. Part math, part logic, part personal opinion. Eventually it means, that rpg rules are not even tertiary sources. They are of use only, when all other sources have been fully used. Further discussion on this elsewhere, if desired. Only comments on the Rising Dragon here, please.

Our group ran into an extreme amount of money and spent it all on a ship. We went straight to a ship yard and had it custom built. At that time I decided to have the extra armor put on at the factory. Kind of like how you can get an armored Bentley straight from the factory. Because of this, I will go with option 3.
I hate the d20 ship building rules, but since its all I have its what I have to work with.
To bring this post back on topic... I'm glad you went with bigger garages for the speeders. Now there will be room for a wide assortment of vehicles.

Re: Czerka Yacht WIP
That is not a speeder garage. It's a shuttle hangar. It is not for planetary vehicles, but for short range shuttlecraft. Speeders will be on Deck 1.
