Re: My design

ok, here is the external view from the top.

Image

I havnt done any clearing of the graphical artifacts on that one yet,

but follow this link

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/marc.savage/snow/1027_TP_WIP.bmp

for a larger bitmap version with some extra cleaning.
I have rounded off the front edge of the front edge of the hull rather than leaving it cut square.

Re: My design

OK, and now the bottom.

Still a work in progress. biut after an hour and having discarded several attemps to detail I will leave it like this unless anyone has an idea.

Afain, a small png, and a link for a bmp

The space next to the external ion engine housing , between the landing pods is way to empty for my tastes

I am also going to add some thing to the pylons. not sure what yet.

the middle front has the airlock and the ion cannon nozzle (the triangle), again more detail to come

Re: My design

WOW, nice shading work!

it is very complex though...hard to modify to different shades isn't it?

Re: My design

its actually easy, because thats a generated image.

I couldnt think how to do the curved side from a top view.

what Ill do is tomorrow, ill genreate the line drawing version.

people said they wanted to see what teh ship looked like externally. thats why I did it.

Re: My design

It's always good to start with the external view. It helps in avoiding those nasty third dimension problems.

Re: My design

Ok, a quick update.

Image

That is a crappy quality png file so you can see the general layout.

A better bmp is
[ HERE ]

I know thre are some graphical artifacts. I will fix them later, Im having issues generating the curves for the outer hull correctly

You will notice that most of teh deck space is weird colours and has lines across it, thats because I have the transparancy set to 50% on these bits so I can see an underlying working grid

Anyway, ive added the topedo launchers which I now realise suck big time.
I have also added the hyperdive motivetors betwen the crew quarters and ive yuet to decide what teh stripey thngs are, but they looked cools when I made them.
middle hull port and starboard side are teh shield generators.

So comments ?

Re: My design

Okay, first of all I want to say, that concept and layout of the ship look really good. I think you have more skill than you know, but I must also say, that I don't the style you are using. I am not gonna force you to use the same style and technique that we use, but I think you could gain a lot from doing so anyway. Your shading looks somehow... fluffy? It makes the ship look very smooth and blurry. What software were you using again?
