Re: AT-AT

Better yet, do we know the lenght of a Rebble snow speeder? If so you can use that to help determine size when the AT-AT crushes Lukes, also in TESB.

Man, I love the internet.

IMDB Mark Hamill Bio

you will notice from the above link that Mark Hamill is 5'9" (a little short for a stormtrooper).

Re: AT-AT

I am not sure that using a snowspeeder to scale the AT AT is such a good idea. It is better to use people within the shot to scale the stuff independantly.

Also, it is never clear how close snowspeeders get to the AT AT except for Luke's, crushed by a prop foot...which is likely not to the correct scale anyway.

Lucas

Re: AT-AT

Could someone explain why a model of the underbelly (with figure for scale reference) is more reliable than a model of the foot (with figure and snow speeder for scale reference)?

Surely we should work out sizes for all the sources (model with snow speeders, interior shots of the ****pit, Luke on the underside and the Foot crushing the speeder) and go from there...

well, ultimately, that is the way to go, but look at the dimorphism in the Falcon and the Shuttle Tyderium.

A decision will ultimately have to be made to determine a proper average.

Same thing with the AT ST

Technocc - have you cross checked Dr. Saxton's work? bear in mind that the study he made was before the DVD collections came out so the picture resolution he made is much lower than is currently possible.

If we were to explore those scenes from ESB and screencap them again and remeasure, I can almost guarantee different results.

Okay, first of all: More methodical, please. emoticon

We already know from past experience that size reference between different vehicles is often way off (think of Executor). So the snowspeeder is of no use at all.

We also know that size reference from exterior shots is often way off (think of the Falcon). So Luke is just as irrelevant.

So do we have an internal reference?
Yep, we do. I think that would be General Maximilian Veers. Wookiepedia says he was 1.93 meters. Any confirmations to that?
