Yellow Scale TIE Fighter WIP

okay,

now that I have worked out the dimensions of the TIE Fighter, I have started drawing it.

Paul will be building the extrusions on the ship, and I will translate them to the blueprint.

Here is the starting image...about an hour's worth of work.

comments always welcome.

Lucas

This is going to be one hell of a model. Let me say that I will not be builing a 3d model of the prop. I will be studying the many features from photographic references that Frank has sent, and that Lucas has found on the internet. It is my intent to give purpose to these features and make them look more like they were attached to the craft and not just a surface feature from the mold. Plus there are details that are obviously from model car kits. I will alter these to remove that appearance.
Some will argue that what is seen in film is absolute gospel. I hold to the idea that all we see are speculations of what might be. I will give another speculation with only minor distortions as an improvement.

Lucas, how's this coming along?

I genuinely believe Uwe Boll could've done a better job with the prequels.

I'm sorry, I can't resist...

Uh...WTF?! It's not for you to decide what does and doesn't look good with someone elses work...it simply is what it is. Besides, this is the actual movie footage and ILM model you're talking about. I think they know better than you what the TIE Fighter should and shouldn't look like.

Again...WTF?!! It IS absolute canon. Any other attitude would be like saying, "Well, I was never really satisfied with that 'fan-film' Star Wars, I think I'll just change this and that..." What kind of arrogance would lead someone to that kind of attitude?! You have to work with what you're given! Do you think that when the US Air Force is faced with some new plane they ignore facts and just paint a prettier picture? You need to rethink your stance on how you interpret canon.

And Lucas, am I right in reading this as tacit approval? Especially when you slam me about considering all sources for my LSA work? Especially when you insist that I base the LSA on the TIE? What if Paul arbitrarily (I don't care what reason he could give) changes the dimensions of the TIE ****pit window?
Please understand, I don't ask because I fear having to redo any work already done on the LSA, but because that whole notion is just plain wrong.
WE are the fans. Not George Lucas, and not ILM...whether we like something or not, especially based on its looks, especially from something that is 100% canon!

Anyway, in light of these posts that I find only support my arguments regarding the LSA, I think my detractors should really cut me some slack...but I know they wont.

Most of the new blood here requires a bit of adjustment to you odd ball rules - that we new people only find out about through flames most of the time. Frankly, I just quit working on anything outside of my own designs.

And yes, WardenWolf is right.

At least the new guy is reading old posts!!

Seriously folks, I think Lucas and WW got off on the wrong foot. I think both of you kids should have a pow wow(conversation) and make nice.

This process is at times frustrating.
