Bluescale Corellian Corvette WIP
Well, here it is...
My work on the Corvette so far. This is a beast. It is hyper accurate and there are still size issues to fix...namely in the engine length, that is why there are the floating lines in the full size images.
As you can see, I am also making a saggital view setup for this ship, very much like Frank's excellent Skyblind.
It is my intention to shade the exterior like the A wing as well. It will look incredible.
There was a preview of the forward engine section posted last Christmas as a teaser when I was only working on this. It is currently on hold, pending the development of the fighters as I have been told that fighters are a priority. But fear not. work is continuing on this ship. It is my second favourite of the entire original trilogy. My absolute favourite being the ISD, but I am NOT going to draw that in MSPaint....in bluescale.
the width of the side view would be about 31500 pixels across. Who has a monitor that big? Maybe the hangar....that's only 180 metres. I can sense Frank sweating.

you will also notice that I am also working on the escape pod...that is a lot of hard work, and will build a yellowscale version of that as well for proper detailing and then properly rotating it so that it fits into the berths. I have already worked out that bit....but it is now a question of actually drawing it in paint.
comments are more than welcome.
enjoy.
regards,
Lucas

Wow, the size of this image is really freaking out the website positioning.
Maybe there could be another color scale for large ships that would fit across the monitor. Or a typical silouhette scaling page.

Re: Bluescale Corellian Corvette WIP
yeah, I realized that afterwards, so I changed the very large image to a link.
Here is a For / Aft view of the engine section.

Re: Bluescale Corellian Corvette WIP
Another scale might help. Green Scale has yet to be used. You could always draft the parts in blue scale, than reduce them and change the scale, to ensure accuracy of detail. I have to do that all the time in drafting work.
And I really, REALLY appreciate that someone is going through the trouble of making deckplans of the capital ships.
These things have been known to take up several adventure sessions of a game. And in many cases a map is very neccesary to be able to tell just where you are, where you're going, et cetera.
It is similar to a dungeon map for DnD, in that sense. The effort is most appreciated, and I would help if I could. I might be getting the time necessary to help some time later.

Re: Bluescale Corellian Corvette WIP
Hi Boomer,
Bluescale is the largest this ship will be. Greenscale is twice the size of redscale (24 pixels = 12 inches) there is no way that we are going to draw the Corvette at that scale.
Frank has mentioned to me that this will be the largest ship available in this style, at this scale, on the site. Anything larger would be totally unmanageable.

Lucas

Re: Bluescale Corellian Corvette WIP
Oh my !! This IS big !!
Looks like on hell of a job if you'ra going to detail it like any of the other ships on the site.
Yep, most impressive indeed !!

Re: Bluescale Corellian Corvette WIP
Welcome AG123!
yes, she is huge. That is why this will be the largest ship on the deckplans site.
The details will be accurate and fully implimented, as well as shading reminiscent of the A wing. It'll take a while though...

Lucas

Re: Bluescale Corellian Corvette WIP
Greenscale is larger than Redscale? You see this is the first I have heard of a Greenscale at all.
What I meant is, put this at a smaller scale. Something along the lines of a pixel per foot. 10 pixels for 3 meters. That might even be too small.

Re: Bluescale Corellian Corvette WIP
greenscale was a proposed scale for fighters which has been since abandoned in favour of yellowscale for the studio model fighters
The 'small' version of this ship is Mike Marincic's.
I will not start with a small version, as it is harder to extrapolate detail.
Always start larger and then reduce resolution, it is much easier that way.
