This is what I have on this model. I think the top view is for the most part finished pending corrections.

One of these is wrong Servo... I think it's the X38.

Watch your lengths/scales.

edit: disregard this - I just saw your post in the other thread. But I'm not a mod, so I can't delete this...

To give everyone a refresher on how small this speeder really is

But it does look longer than 13.5'

I'm going to go back and check my notes... but I do believe the X-34's length is accurate. Note how large Luke and Obi-Wan appear in the vehicle; they're virtually shoehorned in there.

I checked the dimensions in "From STAR WARS to Indiana Jones - The Best of the Lucasfilm Archives". The book has pics and sizes of varrious SW models and props.

The SoroSuub X-34 full-size prop used in "A new Hope" is listed as 217cm wide, by 402cm long, by 114cm high.

The smaller 1/4 scale model that is sized for action figures, is 56cm x 97cm by 31cm. if you asume the smaller model is one quarter scale, the dimensions come out to 224cm wide, by 388cm long, by 124cm high.

As you can see both models do not share the same proportions, but they are close. This could be due to the inaccuracy of the person measuring the props. I am sure they were not accurate to the nearest centimeter. we may be able to reduce error by taking an average of these two sets of dimensions for our models.

WEG mindlessly gave the X-34 a length of 3.4 meters which by the way is smaller than my old Mustang. It is even smaller than our lower estimate of 388cm long.

Questions?

Seriously though... if we try to go for studio models/props whenever possible, then I would think we'd want to go with the dimensions of the full-size prop.

That might also have bearing on the XP-38 discussion as well, as when Lucas and I were discussing it we went on the basis that the two ****pits were the same size.

Frank why not simply use the measurements from the full size prop used in the film, in my opinion that would be more accurate.

Grtak who measured the prop?

If it was me, I would agree with you, but it was one of George's goons, and do you think he was a fan or an employee?

I think he was probably a professional model builder that takes great pride in his work and has the actual prop from the movie.
