Grtak who measured the prop?

If it was me, I would agree with you, but it was one of George's goons, and do you think he was a fan or an employee?

He was the guy with the measuring stick. Regardless of anybody's personal feelings about Georgie-boy and his crew, those are the only measurements we have (right now) of the actual land speeder prop. If we don't consider these numbers to be at least close to accurate, then we might as pull random numbers out of a hat.

Or we can split the difference between the two sources.

Which is less accurate Frank, the toy or the prop? Look at the Falcon toy and then answer that again.

 Your logic evades me Frank.

Again I will ask why not use the measurement from the original prop actually used in the movie? That is far more accurate than averaging the scaled up measurements from the toy and the prop.

My logic is simple. Never take anything in a book at face value. Ask Luc, he has found those "Dimensions" to possess errors in the same book when sizing the Lambda and CR-90. I do not trust the source, so I will scrutinize the numbers till I do trust them. Luc devised a way to minimize error by taking averages and making proportions between the two models to get a better understanding of not only size, and scale but, proportion as well. To be honest, I will wait to see what Luc has to say about this speeder anyway.

The toys are far more inaccurate than the freaking prop even if the measurements are bad!!!!

Where is the prop now? Is it in a collection or museum? Is there some way to get a look at it?

I have to say, I'd go with the full size prop measurement over a toy any day of the week, but a measurement is only as good as the guy who made it, and we only have one. Since this is an important speeder (with a full-size prop), it'd be good to get a single, uncontested measurement for everyone's sake, not just ours.

This is another example of the general techinical dis-interest of Star Wars fans. A Star Trek prop this important would have been lazer-scanned or something by now.

I understand your apprehension Frank, but that seems a little like comparing apples & oranges here. After all, unless I'm very much mistaken there's no full-size prop of the Lambda or CR-90 that one can measure -- so there's little alternative to extrapolating from a miniature. In this instance there is a full-sized prop available with a definitive measurement; even if the measurement is off by a centimeter or two one has to believe that it's still going to be the more accurate of the two.

But it does look longer than 13.5'

By way of comparison, the Dodge Viper is 14.63 ft long.
