Where is the prop now? Is it in a collection or museum? Is there some way to get a look at it?

My best guess is that it's in the Lucasarts Archive. I have not seen it in any public exhibition.

I have to say, I'd go with the full size prop measurement over a toy any day of the week, but a measurement is only as good as the guy who made it, and we only have one. Since this is an important speeder (with a full-size prop), it'd be good to get a single, uncontested measurement for everyone's sake, not just ours.

I agree. We will most likely go with either the full scale prop (looks probable), or average the two sources (second choice), but I will let more of you wade in on this. That is unless we get some new data from an unknown or rediscovered source.

This is another example of the general techinical dis-interest of Star Wars fans. A Star Trek prop this important would have been lazer-scanned or something by now.

I agree again. Even though STAR WARS is not traditional science fiction, there is no excuse for blatant disregard for scale, and detail. Keep in mind if Lucasarts was on top of their details as well as Paramount Productions, we would not be here would we? I guess we will just have to fix that now wont we?

The original prop is in Boston, at the Museum of Science... I believe Altman pointed it out in the Warhog Reference thread a week or two ago...

I saw the exibit a week or so ago, but my pix didn't come out.

Hope this helps.

For some odd reason I don't think they would allow anyone near it.

You'd be surprised. The trick is to ask to see the curator of the exibit and make very clear what you hope to find out and why. As long as the're in there with you, they don't often have a problem with "students" taking a closer look.

This is only true of academic museums I should point out - not profit-led institutions. I don't know much about the boston museum of science, but I'm guessing, with a name like that, it shouldn't need much more than a smile.

I'm a bit more than an hr from Boston, and not going that way any time soon (If my plans in that area change i'll let you know).

I believe the exibit is there through March or April.

You might also poke around www.mos.org they might have a link where you might be able to email somone (i didn't see one, but only looked briefly).

Finally i do have a few pictures of the full scale prop that did come out...i have no place to post them, but could email them (unfortuinatly there isn't much in the shots for a size reference). So let me know where i should send them.

You may email them to FVBonura@verizon.net

Very good work Kysmic. What other STAR WARS props are there? I am willing to drive to Boston with a full Recon Team, next weekend if need be. Now I wish I lived in NY again. Oh well. Now its 400 miles instead of 200.

There was an x-wing, y-wing, cr-90, the falcon, the full sized (and model) speeder, models for the OT walkers, and a number of costumes...I'm hoping to get back, but not sure when i will.

I'll try to send out pix to you either late tonight or tomorrow Frank.
