Re: V-35 landspeeder
ya know frank...how can i say this and be polite...
I was trying to be helpfull. It was stated that you folks hadn't found an official length for the speeder. I profvided the one that i knew of. You tell me to burn the book.
Now i play D20. For what it's worth i also liked the prequils. I'm sorry that they annoy you.

I recomend you get a sense of humor. We WEG folks can at least laugh at our flaws.

size??
Okay children, this is my thread so stop your bickering!
But seriously, do have any agreement on size? Frank and I think 21 ft is reasonable based on the size test.

Sold to the hooded figure with the really bad sunburn!
Based on the seating diagram, 21 ft certainly sounds reasonable. It's definitely a LOT longer than the X-34 or XP-38. Too bad we don't have definitive measurements for C-3PO as we do for R2's dome; there's a shot of him standing next to the full size prop in ANH.

Re: V-35 landspeeder
Alright peeps, we need a finalized length.
I vote 21ft because, well, that is what I figured it out to be. Anyone else have an opinion? If not, I am calling it 21 ft and starting to play.

Re: V-35 landspeeder
Hey Kenposan,
I have done a little analysis of my own to try to determine the size of this speeder.
I started by measuring the pixels in the black and white photo.
I measured the height at approximately midway at the rear of the speeder from top to bottom of the hull.
that is 80 pixels.
The man directly next to the speeder appears to be lined up approximately at the level where the top of his hood lines up with the top of the thrusters. Luckily the arms are visible.
The midpoint of that body would be approximately 31 pixels from the top of the hood.
Let's assume that this figure is 6 feet tall.
in the scan of the Starlog book, which is not totally accurate, the top of the reactor is just past the top of the thrusters, as indicated in the other illustrations and the photos, but let's assume that the height of that reactor is about right and in proportion with the body of the hull.
height is 138 pixels tall
length is 578 long.
138 / 578 = 0.2387543
if 138 pixels = 6 feet, then 6 feet / 0.2387543 = 25.13 feet long
well, that's my analysis anyway.
I hope that helps.
kind regards,
Lucas

Re: V-35 landspeeder
whoops hang on, forgot ground clearance.
one moment please.
okay ground clearance appears to be 6 pixels in the black and white photo (measured from the bottom of the nose to the shadow on the ground.
the head in the hood would be about the same size. proportions of a human body is 8 heads tall. 6 / 8 = 0.75. So the head is 9 inches.
so 80 + 6 = 86 pixels. human figure is about 62 to 65 pixels.
I will assume 65 based on the distance from the camera.
65 / 86 = 0.7558139
6 feet / 0.7558139 = 7.94 feet tall (including ground clearance of 9 inches.)
95.28 inches tall - 9 inches ground clearance = 86.28 inches of the speeder (sans clearance)
from the starlog image 138 pixels tall / 578 pixels long.
138 / 578 = 0.2387543
86.28 inches = 138 pixels.
86.28 inches / 0.2387543 = 361.38 inches long.
making it now 30.12 feet long.
No matter how you slice it, this thing seems larger than 21 feet
Does anyone else have any thoughts on the scale of this thing?
regards,
Lucas
