Re: V-35 landspeeder
well, it's arcane becaue I only had a couple of images to work from.
with the added images from Grtak, I have to revise the height again...which will adjust the overall dimension.
looks like including ground clearance it is about 4.5 feet tall.
so If we are going to keep the ground clearance at 9 inches, which I still think is reasonable,
so 54 inches overall - 9 inches for ground clearance = 45 inches.
45 inches = 138 pixels
138 / 578 = 0.2387543
45 / 0.2387543 = 188.48 inches = 15.71 feet
there are some serious scale issues.
I agree that 30 feet is way too big, but I don't know...
maybe we need a fresh perspective.

Re: V-35 landspeeder
If we go in reverse and assume that kenposan is right with his figure of 21ft, then we need to do the same measurement in reverse.
so 21 feet is 252 inches.
578 pixels = 252 pixels.
252 x 0.2387543 = 60.17 inches.
that makes the V 35 about 5 feet tall according to your measurement, but with ground clearance of about 9 inches, that would make it 69 inches tall
or 5.75 feet tall...does that work for you?
I am not so sure it does for me.
PS - man I hate that rumbleseat idea. blech.
regards,
Lucas

Re: V-35 landspeeder
Well not sure if this will help, or muddy the waters more, but i just yanked some images from ANH (I don't have the ability to post them here, but i'll tell you the shots i used, please feel free to check me).
First i used the shot of R2 & 3PO next to eachother in the hall of the blockade runner. It's the last shot before the stormtroopers appear.
Second i used the shot of 3PO hiding behinde the speeder when luke comes looking for them after dinner. It's the second shot (he's stooped in teh first).
So using those and a copy of the side view of the speeder posted earlier in the thread i came out with it being approx (+or - 1 in) 23ft long and 5ft 4 in.
Again please double check me on the math...but that's what i'm getting...

Re: V-35 landspeeder
ok...i already found an error in my math...the pictuer i used with the speeder & 3po it's too dark to see the top of the spoiler...so i was using a slightly different reference point....the corrected hight and length are: 25ft 11in long & 6ft 2 in high
Again please double check.

Re: V-35 landspeeder
Isn't all this math fun?
I was thinking about the drivers seat we see in the Essential guide and the Tech Journal. Do any of you see this high-backed driver's seat in the movies????
I don't, but I just found the driver. Take a close look at the filter stack in front of the spoiler. I think the stunt driver is in the filter stack, and there is no driver seat on top. I think it was Shane Johnson's and Troy Vigil's way of solving the driver in the engine problem. LOL
We may have to go with the larger 25 foot estimates which will allow 4 not 3 people to travel inside this "thing". Please keep these facts in mind as you make your estimates, because I think I just hit upon the reason why WEG never made stats in the RPG for this speeder (a core staple of the STAR WARS speeder market). It was too scary to deal with I think.
Your thoughts please.

Re: V-35 landspeeder
You may be right, and that may be why we never see it move in the original release...i could be wrong (and i'll have to look carfully later) but arn't all the shots we see of it moving CGI add in's from the Special Edition?
