Re: Gygnus Spaceworks StarSpeeder WIP (v2)

Here's a rough WIP of the top view:

Image

I've started re-drawing this in yellow scale in order to get details as accurate as possible, and once I get a set of orthos to my satisfaction I'm scaling everything down to red scale to do the actual deckplans. Yes, it's more work involved... but even with just what I've got done so far I'm glad I'm doing it this way.

You can tell a few changes from the red scale version -- most notably the slightly tapered nose and the extended engine nozzles.

Lucas was sharp-eyed enough to notice that the orthos on the monitor screen do indicate a tapered nose, which was something I had simply ascribed to camera distortion on the studio model (nice spot amigo).

The extended engine nozzles are an attempt to make the whole thing a bit more plausible; there is precious little room for components behind that rear row of seats.

Now that I've got a working top view I'll be including side and front views in future updates.

Feedback, anyone?

Alright, it's starting to become feasible in my mind. I guess I can't complain about engine size given the Hellstar's. emoticon

Most of this ship's mechanicals will have to be crammed above and below. I recomend using the "Starfighter Repair Skill" to service her like the A-24, due to a very tight design. I suspect we will be installing alot of starfighter parts to get it all to fit. This will not be a cheap shuttle, but it will be a good one.

Outstanding Eric!!! Carry on.

I agree. I see a lot of similarities between this and the A-24... so it would be logical that a lot of starfighter type parts would be used (and therefore that skill should be used in fixing it).

Yes, most of the mechanicals will be crammed above and below (though more so above). I would suspect that the roof-mounted pod is nothing but sheer mechanical components (probably necessary to accommodate such interior space). We'll also have a good amount of room in the nose in which to cram stuff.

Work has begun on the side/front views, but unfortunately progress has stagnated this week due to major off-board developments. As soon as a few more details on said developments have been squared away I anticipate getting back to work on the project at hand.

Just a side note... in spite of Kayle's documented objections, I am back to "wasting my time" with this design now that most of my major off-line distractions have settled down and work on the Rapid Deployment Station is at a point where I can progress both at a rather even pace. My goal is to get a new WIP posted on here by end of next week.

Just a sidenote: Why did you make it brown and not the white and blue stripes of the original?
