Baudo-class Star Yacht

I was just wondering what the status of this ship is? It seems to have been up without any updates for some time (march 2004?).

I am not as talented as you guys are but, I am willing to learn and help out any way possible

Re: Baudo-class Star Yacht

We are looking for a 3D modeler to build the Star Yacht in 3D. The curves are so complex, they defy traditional constructive geometry. I need a 3D model to verify exterior details and to make a sectional cut to expose the interior. To date the hardest ship I have ever worked on. The Star yacht is built more like a living organism than a machine. It has a body like a pulsar skate.

  It is a curvy ship!

Velosipo did some 3-d work on the Ghrtoc 580 he worked on, maybe he could help. I also like the cut-away view he did.

Frank, it wont be all that hard. In Rhino it cam be down with four splines defining the outer shape. Those splines are lofted into a single surface, which can then be molded into place.

I'm sure you can find someone to do that.

...if psCargile can indeed 3D model this ship...I don't know what I would do...but it might be drastic...

The Baudo has always been a favorite of mine. The ship's organic looks has always made me smile when I view it.

However, I have never seen anything resembling the ship on the web, I did once see a set of deckplans in some RPG Artwork site that resembled Frank's design, whoever created them seemed to be more interested in interior design and adding stuff like Swimming pools instead of important systems like engines, hyperdrives and of course, shield generators. I actually did an interior design based on this that could be laid over the top of Frank's design, but I don't think it can help much, but here it is anyway.

This is one of my first designs, I know it's crap compare to some of you guy's work, but I did this ages ago, before my skills had developed.

Re: Baudo-class Star Yacht

I have roughed out quite a bit of the interior as I see it. There are some questions as to what its real purpose is.

I see the Baudo as a yacht - more like a boat. Some see it as a high performance machine like a fast race car.

So what do you expect to see?

As a yacht - I would expect to see luxurious cabins and if possible private rooms and bathrooms.

For a high end speed machine it would not have that, instead it would be more mechanicals and other gizmo's.

I have calculated that for a standard 1 metric ton, should equal 1 square meter. According to WEG RPG it is 2 Square Meters per metric Ton.

I have gone through and set up a cross section analysis. I still can't figure out where the lifepods would and should go.

As a high end machine would you really have one? I am pretty sure Frank thinks that it definately should (and I agree on his reasoning) - but where does it go?

Ultimately I see this ship as somewhat a ship of riddles. Definately there needs to be a 3D Model rendering of the ship (I would prefer it being done on AutoCAD (I think I'll try and pick up another class of that this upcomming year). This way you can put Volume to the vehicle.
