This is the current WIP version of the ship, as well as the source image.

Image

Yes, the source image is the very texture map on the plane below (orange), which is identical to the ships shadow (red). Within the possibility limits of the source image resolution, it is a 100% perfect match. Minimal deviation from the exact outline is due to the outline beeing asymetrical and not very well made, printed on miserable paper and magnified a lot.

Now call me paranoid if you want... but somehow I get the feeling this was well in the works before this thread even got started... emoticon

I think the idea of fusing the entire structure into an integrated whole is a good idea... but right now, I'm seeing a lot of harsh angles that make the rounded bow edges seem a little out of place. What if the front edges of the raised upper deck were rounded off as well to echo them?

And one thing that's always bothered me... what is the logic behind the cutaway section in the bow center? Yes, I know it's in the silouhette, but what purpose does it serve?

I must say I really do like the design. HOWEVER, it kinda looks like a military transport with all those harsh lines. I agree with Uncle Servo, perhaps rounded some of the edges and giving this ship a more organic feel, similar to both the Nella and Nyubba-class vessels, would be more appropriate.

I would have thought with the top mounted ****pit that the cutout was there to provide the pilot a view down, like in a helicopter, for landing and such.

Also I think your keying to the base grey colouration and thinking "military" it is in a particular warship grey paintscheme at present. Slap some garish paint on and youd think different.

I have been thinking about using the front cut out to mount a cargo hauler container anchoring system.

Ahh, finally the pictures and as expected it looks great. I love the ****pit. The cargo area looks like they could be detached with a little work, that would be good for pirate evasion.

My research so far has come up with two sources for the Nestt. They are Wanted by Cracken (cr 1993) p. 35 and Pirates and Privateers (cr 1997) p. 58 & 63 in that order. Wanted by Cracken has it as “Nestt”. I will continue to look for more evidence.

Yes. Pirates and Privateers lists the stock Nestt along with the silhouette picture. As far as I know, Wanted by Cracken includes the stats of a modifies Nestt. I don't have Wanted by Cracken at hand, so I took the alleged information contained in it from secondary sources. I will have to confirm that, once I got my WbC back.

Yes the stats are for a moded ship. It also has a top view. I can post it if you want.
