They were BOTH crap. emoticon

And about the picture: No matter how old it is, it does not only show very aged cgi software at use, but also an artist who was very inexperienced when he made it. Almost everything aligned at 90° angles. Very typical.

Not a good picture, nor a good model, but depending on its age, it might have been "nice" at the time it was made.

Yet and still, it does address a couple of issues I'm facing as I work on the side view... particularly the length of the ramps and how they deploy. I like the concept of extending them.

Okay, the recent announcement that all scales would be converted to metric got me thinking once again about the size of this thing... so I did some playing around with DungeonCrafter and came up with the following rough internal layout:

DungeonCrafter is a bit limited for sci-fi applications, but I'm still pretty happy with the overall results.

As you can see, DC goes on the concept of grids... and while a scale isn't etched in stone it suggests a size between 3' and 5' for each grid space. I think that if we assign a size of 1 meter per grid space we should have something pretty workable.

If the triangular rooms are cargo rooms, they should have doors. emoticon

I think those triangular bits might be outside in that pic...

My understanding was that the triangular sections were the standardised tech bits of the module (they would house things like batteries for lighting, air tanks, A/C whatever, as well as pneumatics for the legs)and it was only the sqaure 'rooms' that changed.

I'm probably wrong though.

The triangular rooms would be less varied than the square ones, certainly. I'd guess you'd have one for each of the basics (power, life support, computer core, and essential systems/consumables storage). There would logically be entry doors from within the square rooms as well as exterior access panels (for the components in the outer edge). I didn't place them in this rough WIP as I was more concerned about what all could fit inside the square rooms, but from this point on I'll definitely need to account for them.

... comes in late and notices questions about base deployment...

perhaps this can help: builder shuttle on wookiepedia

Aparantly it hangs around on Imperial-class Star Destroyers and drops off pre-fab buildings.
