I had Firefly in mind when I created this. I loved the Old West train robbery thing.

Stay tuned, I will be redoing the whole thing since Servo served up that great train sight. I was kind of winging it with few real references.

And allow transfer for passengers through the kitchen car. Otherwise it is doomed to a fixed position at the end of the train.

Or the beginning. Servo's link showed me one big thing: my cars are too narrow by about two feet. May not sound like much but on a train it's huge.

Stay tuned, a much improved train will appear soon (relatively speaking)

I bet it will be late. Trains are always late. emoticon

I may do a double deck, I haven't decided yet.

Monorail redux

New and hopefully improved.

Passenger access through the kitchen/dining car.

No double decker, sorry. Just didn't look right on a monorail.

I kept the dedicated engine for reasons previously noted.

Not really happy with the front view. I suck at front views.

And a thanks to Servo for his link to the California Zephyr, which served as the basis for the revisions.

Re: Monorail

Interesting.

I just am not too sure about a monorail in the star wars universe when technology like repulsors exist.

Still, I like the design, although I think the nose of the train needs to be more streamlined, maybe a bit more rounded.

Lucas

Re: Monorail

Someone posted a monorail pic from a SW sourcebook on these forums so I know there is "canon" evidence for them to exist. I also recall Luke riding a train/monorail in some EU book I read.

Beyond that, it was fun project so I don't care. emoticon

Yeah, not sure about the nose. Like I said, I am lousy with front views.

Re: Monorail

There's a monorail mentioned in Labryth of evel, Grevious attacked Windu on one.

I would have thought monorails are quite feasible, not exactly the same as today's ones, repulsors would replace the maglev aspect of course.

The advantage of set tracks over open air is you don't need any kind of terrain or traffic avoidance.
