Wow the Andromeda shines a lot of light on this ship. The Corona looks like a 3 deck ship for sure.

Grell keep playing. This is good.

When did Andromeda first season come out?

While I have no idea when the design for the Andromeda Ascendant was created, the series is well known as one of the unproduced Gene Roddenberry ideas that went nowhere prior to his death.

It's a great concept and I like it (anyhting that looks like Andromeda is sexy IMHO), but I don't see KDY ever building anything like it.

These are the guys whose most extravagent craft is the starwind and their most famous is the ISDs.

Are we sure KDY built it?

Yeah, the capsule in Pirates and Privateers states that it's made by Kuat Drive Yards. I agree though that it shouldn't be too "swoopy" and elegant looking.

I found one of my old pencil drawings, but it's too stained to get a good scan. I'll try to reconstitute it during free time tomorrow at work (if I have any) and put it up here tomorrow.

Ok, I promised (badly drawn) sketches, and here they are. Reconstitutions of my pitiful pencil sketch of the side, and a revision of my use of space ideas based on Kayle's ideas of where the passengers and support equipment should be.

The main deck:
main deck

The upper deck, with crude lines showing where the hull shape should be:

My pencil-drawn side view (note the highly technical terminology):

I know this is crude, but remember, you were warned.

Keep playing guys, something will hit us. The original artist had something in mind, we just need to find it.

Another thought.

Image

4 seperate cargo pods that sit right up front, each capable of 20 tons. (If I recall correctly, the Corona can handle only 80 tons.)

I changed my mind. That is the top view.

Image

I have no idea how to draw those side swoops, they don't even have to be rounded on the end. But I figure there are 4 of them, not just two. I drew boxes on the top view to show where the cargo compartments are. The cruddy blue coloring on the front view just shows the engine section.
