Think of those windows like the bottom of a glass bottom boat.

Re: YT-2000

I was just thinking... remember the gun turrets on the Millennium Falcon as shown in ANH? Han climbed up, Luke climbed down -- yet they were sitting on the same plane, essentially back-to-back. This tells me that the gun turret areas have their own variable gravity fields.

If that's the case, then it's not too farfetched to believe that the bottom observation deck could have the same setup. That would at least help rationalize the window placement.

Then again, you'd have some serious problems if you were taking a snooze in the bottom deck and the power cuts out... ouch.

That would ony be a problem in a gravity field such as on a planet. But I would think that the "variable gravity field" would be restricted to the the turret areas.

But Dan, then I could see out the window from the bed. Isn't that what is being proposed here.

Eric, the gravity field in the Falcon gun turret is perpendicular to the normal field.

Luc, if you are striving for technical accuracy, then yes, change the texture. If not, leave it be.

I would never own one of these ugly things myself so its no matter to me. emoticon <--Note the emoticon.

...meh...I think if the gunwells are variable gravity on the YT-1300....it would make sense that there would be variable gravity on the YT-2000 and beyond....after all...can't you tweak gravity on a starship...to suit your needs, anyways?

Exactly. My point is that if the Falcon can have areas of local gravity that is not in-line with the rest of the ship, it would stand to reason that the YT-2000 could have them too.

But then again, how would you enter such an area? Perpendicular is relatively easy to conceptualize... but this gravity field would be parallel and inverted. Maybe that's not quite the clever idea I originally thought it was. emoticon

Re: YT-2000

Lucas,

I ran across this site when I was looking for a YT-2000 to build for my party in our upcoming SW RPG. I really have to say thank you for making this!

Also, I see there have been no posts in a bit over a month. Are you making any updates, or is this considered the final version?

Thank you again!

Hi Celendis and welcome to the forum,

This is definately not the final version of the ship. You can tell from it beeing in the top bar of the forum. If it was completed, it would have gone to the Gallery page. This is still a work in project, even though it is progressing very slowly at the time. It is not abandoned and I am more than sure, that Lucas will get back to it.

Wow, thanks for the very quick reply, void! This is a great base for creating a deck plan. It'll be a rough and dirty one to start. I'll share it with you all once I have it generically filled out. emoticon
