Re: Moldy Crow
Hmm no fresher, bit hard on the Jan don't you think. Kyle can surrepticiously use a relief tube but what are her options?
Does the hawk series come with nappies do you think?
I would have thought any ship intended for more than a short hop would have a fresher, even Akanah's didy verpine adventurer had one, albeit curtained off rather than doored, probably with a privacy screen so you don't here the, ah, "bombs dropping".

Re: Moldy Crow
What is the real stock purpose of the Crow anyway? The window configuration is a nightmare for almost every military application. Sure you can use sensors to fly, but jamming them is standard military procedure in many kinds of battle. It is not a good personal transport, because it offers no comfort at all. Even a TIE shuttle equipped with a hyperdrive would have more available comfort space for the passengers. As a courier it sucks, too. It has almost no storage space. What could it possibly transport? A bag of paper letters and a holiday present package from grandma?
The only thing I could think of was a scout, but it would not qualify as a military scout and it would suck as a civilian explorer, since it is not equipped for flights longer than a few hours. Everything else would be very uncomfortable for the crew.
Perhaps a personal courier like the Y-Wing courier variant? Or perhaps its a dedicated trainer ship for training pilots in sensor flight techniques...

Re: Moldy Crow
I love the look of the ship, but Void is right, it is cramped and offers few ammenities...it is a low visibility large fighter / trainer in my opinion.

Re: Moldy Crow
I hate to mention the books since it seems to have caused quite a few headaches, but it mentions the ship as being a Corellian Lighter. I ran a search for the word and found on Wikipedia that a Lighter is "A lighter is a type of flat-bottomed barge used to transfer goods to and from moored ships."
Now again that's kinda hard for a ship that doesn't have alot of personal space or cargo space, but I figured I'd point it out.

Re: Moldy Crow
That's well worth pointing out, Specter. Thanks for posting it.
I think the real problem here may be that the designers at LucasArts might not have thought about the stock role of the MC when they created it. Sure, it LOOKS cool... but as Void pointed out earlier it really doesn't do a good job for any of the most common profiles. Going by the primary source of information (the PC games), about the only thing it's good for is getting Katarn from one planet to the next -- which may very well be the only thing the designers ever really intended it to be.
We may find ourselves having to deviate from both the books and the games somewhat in order to reach the SWDA's goal of optimum plausibility.
Having said that, however, the issue of the shower/facilities did remind me that Jan does make reference to a shower in the original Dark Forces (when Katarn has to wander through a city's sewers). If the MC does indeed have facilites they're probably as cramped as a Boeing 737's (if you've ever flown Southwest you'll know what I'm talking about).

Re: Moldy Crow
Asside: We know the novel reference and we know it is called a "Corellian Lighter". But since the ship is completely unable to fullfill such a role (transfer goods to and from moored ships? HOW? It has less cargo space than a TIE shuttle!), this is just a classification the author came up with, without spending much thought about it. And why would a lighter maneuver solely with sensors? Such a ship would have a real canopy window.
Perhaps it is a cigarette lighter.
But seriously, have we ever seen the STOCK version of this ship anywhere? What if Jan does not like flying visually? They might just have changed the ****pit windows and the stock version could have a real ****pit.

Re: Moldy Crow
That's an interesting point. What if the space in the tip of the nose is barely sufficient for standard sensors, but you want to upgrade them? If it were me and I didn't mind flying on sensors I'd probably modify that canopy to free up some sensor space.

Re: Moldy Crow
The only way I can think of to justify the Crows unique window situation is that the designers tried something new, it may have been better/more efficient than just a window but they ignored the fact that people like to have the uninterrupted view of where they are going.
My idea for the Crow was to have a view screen and hologram display up front. The view screen would be hooked up to a camera (notice the two holes on the front of the beak), since this would be a purely visual system sensor blocking wouldn’t have any effect. There could even be a real-time image analyzing function giving enhanced views/information based solely on the visuals (it would be enough to get approximate values for speed, size and distance as well as ship identification). Combine this with the hologram display (linked to the sensors) and a pilot has a much better view than just a simple window, though not very popular hence the limited production run.
This shows my thinking for the interior...
There is actually a decent amount of room for cargo though low on headroom (just shy of 3ft). This should be comparable to the Sleuth. This area could have a bunk installed (though I think Lucas is on the right track with reclining seats).
The bathroom will be very compact, similar (as Uncle mentioned) to a Boeing . I doubt there would be a shower on a ship this size, though we’ll see what space there is.

Okay, scratch my last post. I like Quint's idea of 'experimental display' better.

Re: Moldy Crow
My Dad had a boat that had a toilet with only 4 feet of headroom. You had to step up into the compartment while bending over. Not very comfortable, but when you had to go......
