I've moved the plan view around 180 degree and added a 45degree line for projection between the plan and side elevation.

yes. thank you Quint. although I don't think it was really necessary to flip the ship 180 degrees, but draw the 45 degree line from the top left to bottom right would have resulted the same. Either way is fine though (as I'm sure you know).

I know this is somewhat off-topic, but it is pertinent, and I do apologize for side-tracking again.

In this case either way may be fine, but Quint's layout would not be fine for a design along the lines of the YT-1300, whereas Lucas's Top Left/Bottom Right 45 degree line would. You see, by rotating the plan view 180 degrees, you're either looking at an appropriate position for the bottom view of the ship or you're looking at a mirror-image of the top view. In a symmetrical ship, it will not hurt anything. But if the ship is assymetrical in any way, it could easily lead to errors creeping in.

Again, I apologize for the side track. And now back onto track, I like the progress on this project and, if the proper care is given to make sure things line up, this will turn out to be a great piece.

That is actually because the drawing is not in a proper form of projection (first or third angle). It a weird hybrid of both, my 'fix' is still technically incorrect, it was just the easiest/quickest way to get the 45degree line in the right direction (which avoids having lines criss-crossing each other). Both methods are really just quick fixes rather than taking the time to reposition the whole drawing properly.

okay, to keep things nice and tidy, I have created a thread HERE to discuss Ortho drawing technique.

let's try to keep the threads on topic please and refer to specific examples regarding the topic itself.

thank you for the input guys.

Lucas

Well, if _I_ were on vacation in Germany, I doubt I'd be sober long enough to draw much. emoticon

He's mixing you up with Bavarians... So buy a Lederhose and open a Biergarten and everything is in order again.
