Alternatives to MS Paint

For everybody who wants to try something different then MS Paint and can't afford Photoshop (wich seems to be the first program that most people think about when using something more advanced then Paint) here is a collection of free programs for download wich where already scattered around the forum:

>GIMP< : an open source program running on Linux, OS X and Windows (and other Unixes of course)

>GIMPshop<:
GIMPshop is a modification of GIMP, intended to replicate the feel of Adobe Photoshop. Its primary purpose is to make users of Photoshop feel comfortable using GIMP.

>Paint.net< : also an open source program for windows 2000 + XP: It's also working with layers, unlimited undo etc. Looks quite good at the first glance.

>Ultimate Paint< : A shareware application, but there is also a totally free version for download, with the only restriction that you can't use photoshop plugins and it only has 20 filters built in.

Feel free to add some more alternatives if you know any!

Yeppers. Good work. I will try to install the Gimp on my computer on monday, so that I can check it out and give advice to people who decide to use it.
