D20 Star wars books

Anyone know wether Wizards are continuing the line of Star Wars books?

As I've noticed they havn't released any new books in about 18 months and some of the books are no longer available.

It is all but dead, and I think they will hold onto the license till hell freezes over.

But, they are still doing web enhancements. This is by far something. They are also adding RPG material it looks like into their mini-line. Not much, just enough to placate the masses.

In fact they have the manuscript for Ultimate Battlestations, but it has never been published. A friend of mine believes that it will be the ultimatized version of starship of the galaxy, I am not of that agreement.

But for the most part you can utiiize d20 Future as a supplement to SotG/Star Wars.

Great!! The one book I really wanted and they stopped publishing it!!! emoticon

Ah well, I'll carry on bidding on ebay for west end game products.

Just got Galaxy Guide bounty hunters for $30, including postage to UK, I hope its worth it. Just need Aliens Enemies and allies and the scout guide, then I've got all the galaxy guides. Then I'll move onto the source books i'm missing.

posticon The Grand Admiral has a few words at the funeral.

The WEG D6 game ran from 1987 to 1998 -- 11 years.

The WOTC D20 game ran from 1999 to 2006 -- 7 years.

Very Interesting.

What is the moral of this story?

Don't try and sell STAR WARS fans a roleplaying system when they already have one they paid hundreds of dollars for already on their shelf.

Don't sell STAR WARS products that pander to the prequels when the bulk of the market wants classic or EU material.

...And never do both in the same RPG game. emoticon

I would like to take a moment to applaud WOTC for lasting so long in such a hostile gaming environment. They WERE a worthy opponent.

We the D6 community attacked WOTC at every step, and at last we have ended our little civil war.

My real question, did anyone win, or did we all loose?

Loose or win, the other pressing question is do we cry over products like "INVASION OF THEED" or do we move on and build the SWRPG into something bigger than ourselves?

Something bigger than Timothy Zahn?

Something bigger than George Lucas?

What say you?

>>OPINION<<
Lee,

Bounty Hunters is worth the money, if, you are going to have a bounty hunter in your group. My, screen, name sake was a character I developed to be a hunter. I learned a lot from reading Bounty Hunters. It helped me understand the how bounty hunter worked, in the Star Wars system.

That WOTC was smart enough to revive Star Wars as a rpg setting during BOTH the high tides of the prequels and the current D20 system AND they were smart enough to dump it again, when profits declined.

Let me see... There is currently no Star Wars rpg on the market that is actively supported and expanded. That means that for now, we have all lost. But it revives the chance, that perhaps finally a capable company gets its hands on the licences. The best would be Steve Jackson Games and switching Star Wars to GURPS rules would make our work a lot easier. But thats not gonna happen. emoticon

You got any concepts for doing so? emoticon

We need one company to produce books that support at least 2 systems of play (ie D6 & D20).

There is no financial benefit for a games company from reviving D6. The people interested in it are not nearly enough to have much weight.

But it would make sense. You are putting out data that covers one form of game play (say D20), how much more would it cost to include an extra set of stats for D6? Probably not much, and you automatically increase your potential market.
